Socialites are people who basically, are people born with a silver spoon in their mouth and have just happened to be born into a family where there is already good fortune. More times than not, socialites are looked down upon by the general public for the sheer fact that their job is not viewed as a job at all, but rather, they are paid just to socialize at charity events and balls across the world, hobnob with other rich folk, and try to keep their name in the social media and news, and many times, not in the best limelight. There are numerous socialites around the world, and every socialite's net worth is dependent on the family they heir from. You will probably recognize several of the following socialites' names. Many have been in the news for one reason or another over the years and now they are on the list of the ten richest socialites in the world.

10. Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie's story is a bit different because she wasn't exactly born into a wealthy family, but just the opposite. She was born into a struggling family in 1981, however, her parents were friends of an already famous music legend, Lionel Richie, who agreed to care for her because they could not. Lionel Richie and his wife adopted Nicole and raised her as their own. By Nicole's own account, when Lionel and his wife divorced soon after they adopted her, they began to spoil her in an effort to keep her happy, and thus began a very charmed life. She also gained fame from her reality TV appearances, with her most notable show being, The Simple Life, co-starring another socialite, Paris Hilton. Richie has had little to do in life aside socialize with other wealthy socialites in Hollywood, although, now she is a wife and mother and has been showing an interest in philanthropy. She has a net worth of $5 million and is one of the richest socialites in the world.

9. Allison Melnick

Born in Queens, NY, Allison Melnick began a career of partying at aged sixteen by working as a club promoter and as a door girl. She soon turned this gig into a business, basically socializing at parties and clubs, which is how she eventually wound up meeting Paris Hilton, who soon became he best friend and the two have been frequently seen at many of these parties and events together. Melnick also had a role on Paris Hilton's reality show, The World According to Paris. Melnick has a net worth of $7.5 million for her life as a party girl.

8. Dorothy Wang

Dorothy Wang hails from a very wealthy family. She is the daughter of American-Chinese billionaire, Roger Wang and has earned a reputation of being nothing more than a spender of her inherited money and a fixture in the party nightclub. She has appeared in television shows, such as E!'s, The Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, which spent its entire focus on her posh life and indulged lifestyle. One thing about Wang, is she is very candid about her incredible fortune and lavish lifestyle. She has told people that she doesn't consider her to be flaunting her money, but rather, it is just who her family is, wealthy and it is just their life. She is worth $10 million.

7. Tinsley Mortimer

Born into a wealthy family of real-estate mogul's and interior designers in 1975, Tinsley Mortimer attended Columbia University before she eventually moved to New York and planted herself right into the city's socialite life. She was once married to Robert Livingston Mortimer in a high-profile marriage, which also lead her to more attention in the world of the wealthy. She grabbed the media's attention with her more edgy taste in fashion, which differed from many of the other more conservative socialites she hung around. Since Mortimer's divorce from her high-profiled, wealthy husband, Mortimer's popularity and name have been less focused on in the socialite arena, however, she still holds a high position on the list of wealthy socialites, with a net worth of $35 million dollars.

6. Brandon Davis

Females aren't the only ones who can be socialites, males who are heirs to large sums of money, can be socialites too. Brandon Davis is very wealthy due to his hard-working ancestors who are in the oil business and which he is heir too. He isn't part of working the family business, but rather, he is a part of the party scene in Hollywood, hanging out and partying with other famous socialites, such as Paris and Nicky Hilton. He apparently has no problem showing off his money, but does occasionally have problems with the law once in a while. Davis is worth a cool $55 million and definitely lives the lavish lifestyle of someone who's got millions in the bank.

It seems like you can't turn around without hearing the name Kardashian and that is because they seem to be everywhere, in the tabloids, on TV, and al over social media. They are by far, one of the most recognized names in the socialite society. They weren't overly popular until one of the daughters, Kim, and her then, boyfriend's sex tape made it onto the internet. Kim was soon put into the spotlight and her family was soon in the spotlight as well. The event sparked the show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," which started the Kardashian craze. The socialites are tied to lots of other wealthy celebs and socialites and the famous athlete, Bruce Jenner, now known as Kaitlyn. The Kardashians are worth a staggering $80 million and some of the wealthiest socialites in the world.

4. Sale Johnson - $100

Sale Johnson made her $100 million primarily from who she was married to, the heir of the billion dollar Fortune 500 company, Johnson and Johnson. Although she comes from a well-to-do family in St. Louis, she received $100 million in her divorce settlement and now she lives life hanging with other rich socialites in some of the most wealthy cities in the US. Unfortunately, Sale has experience enormous tragedy in her life, amidst all her fortune. She lost here daughter to complications from diabetes in 2010, but has continued to move forward in her life and is still seen in the social scene.

Guinness beer is one of the most popular brands and Sabrina is heir to the brewing company. She is one of the most wealth socialites in the world with a worth of $100 million. The 49 year old has had many high-profile relationships that have been in the news over the years. She has had ties to names like Mick Jagger, and was even said to have had a relationship with Prince Charles. Today she is married to a very famous British playwright, Sir Tom Stoppard, and spends her time doing what socialites do, socializing and hobnobbing with the rich and famous.

2. Paris Hilton

Another very famous name in the socialite world is Paris Hilton. Heir to the fortune of her family's hotel chain, Hilton hotels and resorts, Paris has been in the news and all over social media for years. She has had controversial situations propel her name into the limelight more than once and has had a few reality television shows that only add to her fortune of $100 million. Although she is the most well-known name in the family, her sister Nicky has also been a name of interest over the years. Paris is the second richest socialite in the world today.

1. Caroline Luel-Brockdorff – $400 million

Caroline Luel-Brockdorff hails from Denmark and is from a Danish royal family, though she is one of the most notable socialites in London. Her high-profile relationships have kept her name in the tabloids, including her former relationship with Rory Fleming who is the son of the creator of the infamous James Bond series. Later, Luel-Brockdorff was tied to Arsenal player Nicklas Bendtner. They had a child together and shortly after, she called off the relationship. Luel-Brockdorr is worth $400 million and is considered the wealthiest socialite in the world.
