A Closer Look at Amels Kiss the Sky

Kiss The Sky has made its way from the famed Damen Shipyard group Amels Yachts of the Netherlands to Florida and is currently available for purchase. This spacious luxury superyacht is among the most desired to grace the seas. Superior intererior and exterior design and masterful construction combine to deliver the ultimate in nautical elegance and luxury.

The naval architecture company Amels provided composition assistance along with the Terence Disdale Design for exquisite detailing of the interior design featuring an international ambiance that is absorbed when aboard. Fabrication of the vessel occurred in the Netherlands under the direction of the highly skilled naval craftsmen of Amels shipbuilders.

A closer look at the interior

Patrick Knowles of the Terence Disdale Design group carefully chose materials of light oak and marble blend with light colors to promote a sense of open space and freedom in an elegant setting bursting with luxury accents. Large panoramic windows offer protected dining and living spaces offering an unrivaled view of the outside environment. The addition of large oval port like windows allow for sunlight to filter in for smaller areas as desired. This allows for spectacular views during inclement weather while enjoying a temperature controlled atmosphere inside.

The signature work of Knowles is seen in the finely crafted wood and use of precious fabrics to create the feeling of luxury. You feel the ambiance as you enter into the salon from the main deck. The relaxing environment hits you full force as you enter the space garnished with exquisitely elegant sofas and luxury dining area to the rear. The Master suite features a bathroom designed for his and hers accommodation with a spa bath, steam shower, study and large sized dressing room.

Moving to the lower deck you find two large staterooms of VIP proportions. They feature queen beds, restroom facilities and a large bathtub. Additional accommodations on the lower deck include two additional twin suites along with restroom facilities and Pullman beds to accommodate more guests in each suite for a grand total of accommodations for up to twelve guests. Crew’s quarters maximize the full potential of space with comfortable accommodations for eleven to thirteen crew members.

Kiss The Sky is a 171 foot luxury superyacht with a steel core hull and the remainder mostly fabricated of aluminum. Her width is 29.5 feet which increased the spaciousness of the interior. The draught is 10.2 feet which is fairly deep. The only associated drawback is that the draught depth limits the types of harbors which can be visited.

She was finished in 2001 and refitted for changes and improvements in 2009. Her maintenance record shows frequent luxury updates made to suit the owner’s individual tastes and preferences for enjoyment.

The yacht is powered by a KTA-38-M2 diesel engine packing 1200 horse power. It is equipped with two of these for a total HP or 2,400 for reaching a cruising speed of fourteen nautical mph. The top speed for Kiss The Sky is sixteen knots. She has an impressive range. In nautical miles it is 5,470 when traveling at twelve knots. The fuel capacity is 106,000 liters with 20,000 liters of potable water capacity.  Vosper stabilizers and Holland Roer bow thrusters add additional stability when at anchor or in rough seas for maximum occupant comfort.

Overall assessment

From outside observations Kiss The Sky glides over the water like an angel with smoothness and contemporary elegance. A closer look reveals the intriguing design that delivers a workhorse beneath the decks with a decent range and plenty of cruising power. Longer voyages are not a problem because of the long range and potable water storage capacity.
