Five Interesting Hotel Picks for Travel in the Catskills

The Catskills is a mountain range in New York State. The area is well known for its ski resorts, the diverse wildlife, the Catskill Forest Preserve, hiking, and nature trails. Tourists flock to the beautiful area of the United States. The Catskills also comprises the Hudson River School Art Trail which runs through Catskill Village. In the village, visitors will find the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. Also along this trail are Sunset Rock and Kaaterskill Falls. Those who are visiting this area must find the perfect accommodation to stay in that will add to the experience of staying in this area. There are some amazing hotels to choose between in The Catskills and here are five of the best hotels in this area.

The Arnold House

The community of Shandalee was once a sleepy part of southern Catskills located on the top of a mountain. The Arnold House has revived Shandalee by attracting tourists who want to stay in the hotel’s unique accommodation and experience the beauty of its surroundings. The ten guest rooms are delightfully designed in a manner that preserves the country atmosphere with quirky features while also adding all the comfortable touches that the modern guest desires. Features of the rooms include antique writing desks, industrial style lamps, and pretty quilts. The accommodation section of the hotel has a spiral staircase leading to the tavern. This serves food made using fresh, seasonal, local produce and a wide selection of wines, ales, and spirits. Throughout the summer months, there is live entertainment in the barn. The hotel also has its own spa for guests who want to enjoy some relaxation or pampering.

Albergo Allegria

This stunning hotel boasts 21 rooms of various sizes and has repeatedly received rave reviews from those who have stayed in the property. The exterior of the property is cladded and the interior reflects the period-style of the building. However, each room is kitted out with all the mod-cons that you would expect from a hotel of this standard. Some rooms even have the luxury of a spa bath. There are large grounds with a creek to explore and the hotel has storage for ski equipment after a day on the local slopes. The hotel is just two miles from Windham Mountain and one mile from Windham Country Club.

The Graham and Co.

The Graham and Co. is a quirky hotel with 20 guest rooms that provide a completely unique experience. The theme of the hotel is based on the summer camp atmosphere that vacations of the 1950s and 1960s had and part of the experience is what goes on in the outdoor areas at this hotel. The oval pool has innertubes for floating, there are hammocks hanging from the trees, and the hotel hosts bonfires at the weekends. There is also a volleyball net that is used for playing ball games in the day and is often transformed into a movie screen at night. The rooms are designed in a funky fashion with the walls adorned with local maps, rustic wooden furniture, and interesting metal fixtures around the rooms.

The Roxbury

The Roxbury is a boutique hotel with suites that are each designed in a unique and wacky style. Some have a 1960s or 1970s theme and others are designed to represent a cartoon or television series. The experience you have in this hotel depends entirely on which room you are staying. There is also a three-bedroomed holiday cottage called the Archaeologist’s Dig and this has an Indiana Jones theme throughout that even includes a small cave. The hotel is close to local shops and restaurants and is just 14 miles from the Catskills Mountains.

Stickett Inn

The main section of this rustic hotel has just four suites and each of these has a unique feature. For example, one suite has a cold-plunge trough tub and a steam shower, and another boasts a private balcony with a bespoke spiral staircase leading to a hot tub. One of the suites is perfect for couples as it has a metal tub large enough to fit two people below a rain shower. There is also a two-bedroomed suite that has a retro feel to the décor as it has a Formica dinette set and funky lamps. There is also a private cottage to the rear of the hotel for guests who prefer a more intimate vacation. The hotel is located in Barryville, a riverside hamlet that has approximately half a dozen restaurants within walking distance of the accommodation.
