Lakers Fan Hits $95,000 Half Court Shot

Lakers fan Jerald Acoba $95k half court shot

30 year-old Jerald Acoba of Tulare, California electrified the crowd at the Staples Center last night when he hit a half court shot between the third and fourth quarters of the Los Angeles Lakers game. For hitting the shot, Jerald received $95,000 from Aria Las Vegas, and one hell of a story to tell until the day he dies.

Acoba was attending the game with his wife and two nieces, when he was chosen at random to shoot from half court for the Aria Big Shot Jackpot. His nieces joked that he should spend the money to pay their college tuition, but he’s decided that he’s going to buy his mother a new car.

“She’s always been there for me when I need her,” Acoba said. “She’s always there to help me out. It’s my turn to repay the favor to her.”

Naturally this story begs the old daydreamer question. How would you spend the money?
