Taking a Deeper Look at the Bleau Modest Collection

Some of the most amazing new products and accessories were introduced to the world through Kickstarter programs. They give you the advantage of being among the first in the world to get a taste of what’s coming, but they’re not generally available outside of this platform. The campaigns are an effective way for new brands to get their products into the market and to establish a following of patrons. The new Bleau Modest Collection falls under this exclusive program and here is a look at the collection that is still available through Kickstarter. It has the earmarks of becoming one of the new lines of luxury watches destined to become classics, but bear in mind that these are currently prototypes. Here are the pieces currently offered in the Modest Trio Collection from the new brand out of Australia.

The Bleau Modest Collection: Priced at $484 each

The Bleau Modest Collection is a grouping of three luxury wrist-watches, which come in an assortment of dial colors including Blue, Grey and Cream enamel. They are currently offered at an early bird special discounted price. Ordering now gives you the best deal before the watches are marketed through higher priced retail venues, estimated to begin at $576 each.

What makes the Bleau collection so special?

Creators of the watch created a unique case that delivers a consistent shine. Three piece construction and highly polished top offers a surface that is clear and reflective. This sits atop the downward curving lugs which give the case a bow shape, wrapping around the curvature of the wrist for a more comfortable fit and distinguishingly unique design. It’s certain to become a signature element of the new watch brand.

Other distinguishing features

In addition to the unique sides of the watch, the sapphire crystal is flat, lacking the dome shape of many luxury watches. The signed crown features a simple push/pull design for practicality. The colored dials feature a dynamic finish that cannot be justified with words. The visual effect of the slightly brushed metallic dials exude vibrant color enhancements when caught by the light, giving each a unique and vibrant hue with colors that dance in the light.

Three embedded sub-dials. The sub-dials offer an additional visual dynamic with dual finish of matte for the outer ring and an inner portion of glossy highlight with concentric circles. The color varies slightly fro the main dial adding a lovely contrast with a high end feel.

Hour markers

Every detail counts in the new Bleau Modest Collection. The hour markers are represented in rectangular indices which are doubled at 12, featuring a polished aesthetic. Lance hands with elongated bases feature a resurgence of classic style not commonly seen today. Of the three examples the cream enamel stands out the most with heat treated lance hands which are blued for a magnificent contrasting effect. The Heat blued hands piggyback on the light play strategy with brilliance under certain lighting conditions.

Movement

Each example in the Bleau Modest Collection is powered by a Sellita SW260-1, 31 jewel Swiss caliber with power reserve of 38 hours. This powers the functions which include hours, minutes and small seconds with the placement of the function at the six position. Swiss manufactured precision movement for assuring accuracy in timekeeping.

Other specifications

The 39mm x 43.7 x 11.1 mm case is made of stainless steel materials and is water resistant up to 3 atm. The lens is a flat Sapphire crystal design and the lug width is 20mm, with a push/pull style simple crown. The Wrist style strap is crafted of Genuine alligator.

Final thoughts

The Bleau Modest Collection of watches shows promise for becoming a premiere new line of luxury watches. The Australian manufacturer has just entered the ring with three fine examples of their new line in prototypes that evidence the potential for becoming collectibles within the horological community. We’re witnessing the ground floor entry of the new company with their first introduction of the Bleau Modest Collection to select members of the public. We look forward to hearing more from the new watchmakers as they move beyond the initial stages for launching this new enterprise, to establishing their client base that will supply the necessary reviews and feedback for determining demand and value.
