Who doesn’t love a visit to a theme park? Complete with rides, roller coasters, food, lots of picture opportunities and meeting our favorite characters, these places are always a big hit with family members of all ages! Here are three cool theme parks highly recommended for planning a family friendly trip.

Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom

Located close to Allentown, PA, the Dorney Park has multiple roller coasters, a waterpark and many other rides. The famous Steel Force roller coaster is housed in Dorney Park.

Halloween Haunt

The Halloween Haunt is a kid-friendly, non-scary event in the theme park that focusses on the Halloween theme. It is best suited for children 13 years and older. A smaller version of it called the Boo Blast was introduced later for younger children. Both these events take place on weekends during the months of September and October.

Spooky Attractions

Mazes like the Tourist Trap, Trick or Treat and Blackout are popular in the Halloween Haunt. Other than mazes, the Haunt also features some scare zones like Age of Darkness and Cut Throat Island.

Wildwater Kingdom

The Wildwater Kingdom is situated right inside Dorney Park. It comprises of lots of splash-based attractions including the Aqua Racer, Cascade, Jumpin’ Jack Slide and Runaway River.

Fast Lane

Many of the popular attractions in Dorney Park have the Fast Lane option. This is a shorter queue to get on the ride. To get access to this fast lane, visitors need to purchase the Fast Lane wrist bands in addition to the park admission passes.

Dutch Wonderland

Another kid friendly theme park is the Dutch Wonderland. Located in the East Lampeter Township of PA, the Dutch Wonderland houses 32 rides and a water play area. It also holds special events like the Happy Hauntings during Halloween season and Dutch Winter Wonderland for Christmas.

As Dutch Wonderland is more geared towards younger kids, the rides are a little on the calmer side compared to other parks. However, adventure lovers need not despair! They have these three cool roller coasters to make sure they have fun too –

The Merlin and Friends Breakfast Buffet is a magical breakfast experience for little kids along with their favorite characters. Other than those you can even find some good snacks and sweet treats at The Slush Shack, Funnel Cake Factory, Breyers Ice Cream and Coffee Shoppe or some pretzels at Auntie Anne’s.

Souvenir and Gift Shops

There are multiple gift shops to choose from in the Dutch Wonderland. The Castle Gift Shop, Merlin’s Marketplace and Artifacts are a few of them. The Gem Mine is a fun, interactive gem finding experience for kids.

Knoebels Amusement Resort

The best thing about visiting the Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg, PA is surely the free admission. Considered the largest of its kind, Knoebels requires its visitors to only pay for the rides that they want to enjoy. Even the parking and some entertainment options are free!

Golf Course

For the calmer members of your troupe, the park also features a golf course. It is open all day long and you get to play 18 holes for just $25! They also provide you with a cart.
