10 Things You didn't Know about USAA CEO Stuart Parker

Do you know who Stuart Parker is? It's a fairly common name, so if you do an internet search of the name, you're likely to come up with several options. In this particular case, the man in question is none other than the Chief Executive Officer of USAA, an insurance company that focuses on the needs of people who have served their country in the military, as well as their families. If you want to know more about the person who runs this company, you can find out 10 things about him listed below.

1. He's only been CEO of the company for a few years

It isn't like he just took over the helm of the company, not by a long shot. In fact, he's been there since 2012. That being said, six years is not all that long when you consider everything that he has to know in order to do his job properly. After all, USAA is not just an insurance company, but also one that provides financial planning, tax information and all kinds of assistance to military individuals and their families. That's a lot to take on, to say the least.

2. During that time, a lot of changes have occurred

Some people praise him and some people fault him because a lot of changes have occurred throughout the company since he took over. As is typically the case, he's been both celebrated and vilified for some of these changes, many of which are the result of changing times as much as anything else.

3. In reality, he isn't directly responsible for all of those changes

The thing that people have to remember is that he isn't directly responsible for all of those changes. In fact, when he took over the reins in 2012 many of them were already in place, destined to happen, regardless of who became CEO. As previously mentioned, many of them are merely the result of changing times and the need to progress with the way other people do business.

4. He makes less than a lot of other CEOs of insurance companies

There's no doubt that he gets a salary that is more than respectable, but it isn't anywhere near as large as many CEOs, especially of other insurance companies. In fact, when his salary is compared to other individuals who head up major insurance companies throughout the United States, it looks like he's getting paid a small fraction of what everybody else makes.

5. Many people still complain that he makes far too much

Despite that fact, there are a number of people that are growing ever more frustrated that he makes over one million dollars for a yearly salary when people are struggling to pay their bills, including insurance premiums. You could probably safely say that there is a valid argument on each side, but finding an effective answer in the real world is anything but easy.

6. He has big shoes to fill

One of the biggest issues is that the previous CEO was a much-loved individual that had old school military values. Therefore, some people are not going to be happy with anyone new, regardless of what they do.

7. He's determined to keep the company culture largely unchanged

Even though many people have been fearful that he will eventually start making changes, he’s tried to keep things on an even keel so far.

8. He's dedicated to helping those who have served their country

Clearly, he has a strong desire to provide effective assistance to those who have served their country, as well as current active duty members and their families. He has pointed out in the past that if this weren’t something vitally important to him, he wouldn’t be holding the position he currently holds.

9. He works hard to ensure that the company continues to provide a number of benefits

When it's all said and done, he wants to ensure that everyone that counts on the company for their insurance, tax preparation and financial planning has the ability to continue doing exactly that, well into the future. He sees it as a way to give back to those who have already sacrificed so much. In short, he's made it his mission to continue providing quality services to those who have earned it.

10. Compared to other CEOs, there's relatively little information about him

So far, he has managed to avoid much of the limelight that automatically comes with being a CEO. He considers that a good thing, as it gives him more time to dedicate to doing the job.
