Why Central and South America Are The Perfect Spring Break Destination for Families

South America and Central America are the perfect destinations for Spring Break, especially for families. Not only is there culture, great food, beautiful beaches and wonderful sights – but it affords the opportunities for families to bond over once-in-a-lifetime experiences that are had together. These memories are often the stuff of family legends that live on for many, many years to come!

There are so many reasons that make traveling to Latin America a good choice for families. “It’s about bragging rights! They will return home having explored ancient Mayan ruins or having zip lined though the jungle or rafted through the rainforest. Peru

Patagonia

The Singular Patagonia offers families a Reconnecting To The End of the World Package that includes three-nights of accommodations at The Singular Patagonia w/ daily breakfast included, a historical tour through the hotel, two half day expeditions of choice (Condor Trekking, Milodon Cave, half day horseback riding) and a gastronomic tour with a five-course lunch (beverages not included). Package is valid from March 20th until May 2nd, 2018 and starts at $559 per person, per program (based on double occupancy). Brazil

The Beach Relaxation and family adventure for Spring Break in Trancoso, Brazil allows families to explore a reserve inhabited by native Brazilian indigenous people. Jaqueira Reserve stands in the ancestral lands of the indigenous Pataxó people of Brazil, encompassing 2,000 acres of Atlantic Forest, only one hour away from the charming beach enclave of Trancoso, in the northern coastal state of Bahia. Pousada Tutabel, a beachfront hotel in Trancoso, offers families an opportunity to visit the reserve, learn about the local costumes and have lunch with the tribe, in a day tour that will excite the whole family and provide the kids exciting fodder for show and tell.

Located on a secluded estate surrounded by lush tropical forest, the hotel is a beach refuge of 16 suites and two villas, ensconced in a sprawling estate. Beautifully built in local teak and furnished with four-poster kind size beds, the accommodations offer all modern-day conveniences in authentic Brazilian coastal aesthetic. A restaurant, exclusive to guests, serves gourmet Brazilian and international cuisines and pampers families with the have it your way program, where guests may order breakfast any time of the day or request a favorite dish. Bath amenities are by Brazilian cosmetics company Natura, which uses sustainable products from the Amazon forest and guests are welcomed with a caipirinha.

In addition to beach activities, such as stand up paddle, families may explore of the region under the guidance of Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural, a private natural heritage reserve to hike the trails nearby (there are 8 in varying degrees of difficulty), bird watch or take a kayak down Rio do Brasil (the first mapped river in Brazil).

Nicaragua

This is a family adventure tailored for 4 people splitting their time between the colonial city of Granada and the beaches of San Juan del Sur. Partake in zip lining, kayaking, surfing and sailing.
