Audi is releasing its new Audi Q7 for 2020 and rumors have already begun to fly about the host of updates that will be featured. If you’re a fan of the last model year then you’re going to be thrilled with what is coming and it’s just around the corner. Here are 10 things that you need to know about the new 2020 Audi Q7 55 edition.
1. A new engine
The 2020 Audi Q7 55 will come equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 TFSI engine. This is a new power plant for the new model year. The manufacturer claimed that it will deliver 335 horsepower along with 369 lb. ft. of torque. This is an upgrade of 44 lb. ft. from the last generation. To complete the powertrain, it will be mated with a Triptronic eight-speed transmission. It’s set up to deliver active torque distribution to both axles with standard Quattro all-wheel drive.
2. The performance is also enhanced
Responsiveness and performance have both been improved with a revision to the Audi valve lift system. The SUV will move from a standstill to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds with no lag. This is also thanks to the placement of the twin-scroll turbocharger within the “V.”
3. The interior gets an upgrade
The Q7 is also getting an update in the cockpit. It starts with the architecture with a modern air vent strip that runs the length of the dashboard. It also gets a new MMI touch response display. The steering wheel features the Q-design with three spokes complete with shift paddles and multiple function buttons for driver ease and control. It also features three-zone automatic climate control, but it will be available in four-zone climate control as an upgrade.
4. The seats offer luxury comfort features
When it comes to seating, driver and passengers will enjoy the controls for seatback angle adjustments and fore/aft positioning with split tumble folding for the second row. It also comes with heated eight-way power seats in the front along with a four-way power lumbar adjustment as a standard feature. Third-row seats feature electric fold and return functions along with 50/50 split-folding There are also five latch seat mounting points between the second and third rows.

If you want to move beyond the luxury of the standard features, you can upgrade to the luxury package that includes individual contour front seats with Valcona leather. On top of that add ventilation and massage functions along with seat memory for the passenger. You also get leather on the door armrests adn on the center console. You can also order it with the rear door side window and tailgate sunshades if the notion strikes you.
6. It comes with a sunroof
You don’t have to go premium to enjoy the control of lighting that a sunroof affords. The new Audi Q7 55 comes with a standard panoramic sunroof. It’s also equipped with an electric sunshade that lets you decide the amount of light that you allow into the cabin. It’s great when you want to enjoy the beauty of a sunny day.
7. The fuel efficiency takes a hit
Although there is going to be a ton of cool upgrades, there are going to be a few drawbacks. One of them is the fuel economy. When designing the new turbo engine they didn’t make it more economical. The estimated city economy is 17 mpg and 21 on the highway, with a combined score of 18 mpg, which isn’t the worst in the lineup.
8. The infotainment system gets an update
For driver and passenger comfort, the new Q7 55 will feature two touchscreens which are a definite upgrade over the old system that offered only a single screen with a centrally placed control knob. The screens are integrated with the top for control of navigation and measurement of 10.1 inches. It is also for control of audio and other vehicle settings. The second touchscreen is 8.6 inches and it is designated for heating and cooling for the seats and for climate control. This new infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay.
9. It gets an upgrade in quality
We learned that the new Q755 will feature exceptional quality in the interior materials used as well as for the build quality. The suspension has been tweaked to offer the best possible ride quality no matter what the road surface is like. It is reported to not only be quicker but also quieter, with agile handling and a host of new infotainment and safety technology features.
10. There are a few cons to consider
The new Audi Q755 is loaded with a ton of significant updates that will thrill fans of the previous model. From the long list of updates that it offers, along with the myriad of luxury packages to enhance your enjoyment further, it’s going to be the best so far. Having said this, there are a few drawbacks to keep in mind as well. Reviewers have pointed out a few minor details that include the fact that the third-row seat is likely to be cramped for full-grown adult passengers, however, there is plenty of space for small children. Another consideration is that the cargo space is less than most of the major competitors. Another concern is that the new infotainment system could be distracting to use for the driver. The new Audi Q7 55 will have a few kinks that need to be worked out in future models, but we must admit that this new model is a continuation of the same generation and it’s not yet time for a full makeover. We assume that Audi is saving this for the next generation. All in all, it gets a big thumbs up and the starting price is estimated to be in the neighborhood of $60,800.
