2020 Indian Thunder Stroke

If you’re a fan of motorcycles, you know that just any old bike won’t do. The truth is, you want something that’s capable of assuming a lot of different roles. It needs to be versatile enough to perform well in the environment you plan on riding in the most. Of course, it also has to look good. Last but certainly not least, it needs to perform well, be reliable and it has to do all of this without breaking the bank when you make your initial purchase or whenever you need to have it serviced. By the time you get done considering all of these things, there aren’t really that many bikes out there that fit the bill. What does, however, is the 2020 Indian Thunder Stroke. If you haven’t heard a lot about this bike yet, you probably will. Check out these 10 things listed below that you may not know about what could potentially become your next favorite motorcycle.

1. You can tell by its design that it’s made for touring

Most bikes clearly fit into one category or another. Even if you don’t ride bikes routinely, you can tell a dirt bike from a mile away, simply by looking at it. The same is true for a touring bike, and this one is no different. That being said, it doesn’t look like most traditional touring bikes look. There’s something about it that makes it look fresher. Some might even dare say that it looks edgier.

2. It’s designed to act like a performance bike

Something that you’re likely to hear a lot about this particular motorcycle is that it has more “attitude” than virtually any other touring bike that’s ever been made. That’s not just a marketing slogan or an advertising gimmick. It is, in fact, the truth. That’s largely because it’s a touring bike that’s designed with comfort in mind, but it’s also designed with performance at the forefront.

3. It has an infotainment system that rivals most luxury automobiles

It’s not at all uncommon for performance sedans to incorporate cutting edge infotainment systems that can do practically everything besides make you a cup of tea. That’s to be expected in that particular market. However, it’s a bit different when it comes to motorcycles. They’re certainly not all created equally when it comes to technology, yet this particular bike can do virtually everything even the most luxurious automobiles can do when it comes to its state-of-the-art infotainment system.

4. It has plenty of power

Nobody wants a bike that’s short on power. Fortunately, that’s not something you have to worry about here. The truth is, this particular motorcycle is capable of producing a whopping 126 ft lb of torque, thanks to its Thunder Stroke 116 engine with high flow heads. It may have the comfort of a cruiser, but in its heart, it is more a racer than anything else.

5. The handlebars are heated

Whoever said that motorcycles aren’t capable of providing an exquisite level of comfort? If you want hand grips that can provide you with modern-day comfort, you don’t need to look anywhere else. The handlebars on this bike are heated, meaning that you’ll be comfortable in even the coldest of weather conditions.

6. Now you see the windscreen, now you don’t

It would be insane to design a touring motorcycle without a windscreen, yet there have been pictures of this particular bike without one. How is that possible? As it turns out, the windscreen is definitely there. It’s also fully adjustable with the touch of a button. You can extend it fully, adjust it to your liking or simply roll it down in the same manner that you would roll down a car window until it’s completely out of sight. It’s your choice.

7. It has a cost that might surprise you

If you know anything about motorcycles, you’re not going to expect to get a bike like this for next to nothing. However, you might still be surprised by the purchase price. As it currently stands, it will cost you a little more than $27,000 in order to get your hands on one of these. That’s as much as some compact automobiles and it comes close to the amount you could expect to pay for some sports cars. Nevertheless, if you are an aficionado of Indian motorcycles and you need a touring bike that will allow you to be comfortable in virtually any type of conditions, it might well be worth the purchase price and then some.

8. It comes in three colors

If you’re a big fan of the Chieftain silver that has been used on some bikes in this line in the past, you might be a bit disappointed. The current line comes in three colors, all of them matte. You can choose from black, red or blue. Depending on input from individuals who have recently purchased the bike, more colors may be available in the future.

9. You can use the touchscreen even with riding gloves

There are few things more frustrating than having a motorcycle which utilizes a touch screen that isn’t compatible with riding gloves. It’s not exactly like you can take them off while you’re going down the road at speed and it’s a complete pain to pull over in order to remove your gloves, all so you can find out exactly how far it is to your destination. You don’t have to worry about that with this particular motorcycle, as the touchscreen is fully integrated and compatible with riding gloves.

10. There will likely be more updates to the bike in the future

Indian has made it a steady practice to check in with individuals who have purchased their bikes in the past in order to see what they think. They want to know what people like and what they would like to see changed. As such, they’ve already made a number of changes to this new 2020 edition of the bike and they’re likely to make more changes in the future, depending on the feedback given to them from current owners.
