2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat

Dodge continues to raise the bar when it comes to the popular Durango SUV. With the coming 2021 SRT Hellcat, you will find that there are many features and attributes that drivers today have come to appreciate. Not only does this Durango comfortably seat an entire family, but there is also plenty of room for countless belongings. Add to that the tremendous towing ability that is included in this model, and it seems that there are is not anywhere that you will not be able to go in. Here are 10 things that you may not have known about the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat until now.

1. This is will be the only year for the SRT Hellcat

If you are really want to drive away in this model, you will want to make sure that you get your order in as soon as possible. It appears that 2021 is going to be the only model year from the SRT Hellcat. This is due to EPA standards that the Durango will not meet starting with 2022. This has nothing to do with the integrity of the vehicle, so do not worry. It is a simple matter of logistics, so you will still be able to freely drive your version long after the model stops being sold on showroom floors.

2. The Price

One thing you do not know about the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is the price. This is because Dodge has not quite revealed that yet. What we do know is that this is the most powerful Durango to date, so it will come with quite the price tag. You can expect it to cost noticeably more than other SRT models. We would expect that it will price just over $80,000 and that deliveries will start during the first quarter of 2021.

3. The Engine

You will probably be quite surprised about the powerful engine that is going to be included with the SRT Hellcat. Try on a 6.2-liter V8 engine that has been supercharged for starters. This will give you an impressive 710 horsepower, which provides 645 lb/ft of torque. No matter how you look at it, that is quite a bit of power.

4. The Transmission

With the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat, you will end up with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This means that all of the power coming out of the engine we just talked about will help all four of your wheels propel the SUV wherever you want to go. There is an enhanced exhaust system included in the Hellcat as well. This will help distribute all of that power that is come from the supercharged engine.

5. The Acceleration is Amazing

While most SUVs might not be known from their ability to accelerate from a standing position, the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat bucks that trend. The exact numbers have not quite been released by Dodge, but it looks likes you will be able to get from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 3.5 seconds. This would be good enough to allow you to finish a quarter-mile late about an NHRA track in only 11.5 seconds. Strap on your seatbelt before you hit that last pedal in this one.

6. You Won’t Believe the Towing Capacity

Again, SUVs have always been able to tow items behind them, but not to this extend. In fact, the SRT Hellcat will rival many full-size trucks in terms of its towing capacity. In reality, it blows away any other mid-size SUV that you will find on the road today. This equates to an 8,700-pound towing capacity which is enough to take just about anything that you need along right behind you.

7. Fuel Economy

Here is another area where the exact numbers are not yet known, which is why it definitely makes this list of things you did not know. That being said, you should not expect to find a winner at the gas pump with this one. In 2020, the number was only 13 mpg when driving in the city, with 19 mpg being gained on the highway. You can expect those numbers to get even worse with the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. Of course, this is because of the power coming from the engine, but you will still need to plan your trips to that gas station accordingly.

8. The Steering Wheel

While this is one item on a vehicle that does not usually get a mention, the new SRT Hellcat is an exception to that rule. You will find that it has a flat bottom and that it comes with two paddle shifters that make driving it even more fun and convenient. The SRT logo is prominently displayed in the center of the steering wheel, and it is backlit in a brilliant red color.

9. The Seats Will Leave Your Comfortable

You will find that the seats on the 2021 Hellcat are extremely comfortable. You will get the benefit of heated seats when it is cold outside, along with ventilation that will help you during the hottest part of the year. Along with that comes Nappa leather that is always going to feel good.

10. The Center Console is Loaded With Accessories

You will love how convenient the center console has become on this SUV. It is no longer just a place to rest your elbow. You get two cupholders, a shifter than is fashioned in a T-shape, space to wireless charge your compatible mobile devices, and a large storage bin to go with it all.

So, there are the 10 things that you did not know about the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. All that remains now is deciding when it comes out at a dealer with you. You will want to get in line to take it for a test drive an envision it in your own garage. That will really make you the envy of all of your neighbors.
