Jaguar will release its 2021 XF Sportbrake for this model year but the new iteration has been shrouded in mystery. Although the luxury automaker has taken every precaution to keep the details a surprise, spycams have caught enough footage to reveal some of the features and it’s certainly given experts on Jag enough to make some educated guesses about what we can expect. Here is what we know so far, and 10 things that you probably didn’t know about the 2021 Jaguar XF Sportbrake.
1. It’s getting an update
Spycams have revealed quite a bit of juicy details about the 2021 XF Sportbrake. We know that the wagon is going to emerge with new front and rear fascias. This will change the looks. They’ve managed to discern slimmer headlights and a new grille on the prototype that was caught out tooling around.
2. It gets a new angle or two
The photos also reveal changes in the taillights. Spy shots clearly reveal that the taillights are going to have a more angular design. This is a minor detail but it will definitely bring a change in aesthetic for a more streamlined appearance. Although it’s hard to tell with all the camouflage that Jag applied during test runs, there are a few distinct feature differences that they weren’t able to fully disguise.
3. The XF will get a new upmarket vibe
We learned that the odds are in favor of the XF becoming the recipient of a new infotainment system. Sources report that the touchscreen display will be located in the center stack with a 10.2-inch screen. It’s hopeful that Jaguar responded to complaints about the lag of the previous system and will respond with a more intuitive and faster version for the 2021 model.
4. We should see upgrades in the interior
The rumor has it that the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake will get an update for its interior. The word is that we’re going to see something new such as more hand-stitched leather for the interior and more soft-touch surfaces. This will certainly enhance the luxury vibe of the vehicle. So far there has been no word about color combination options, but we’re all keeping our fingers crossed for the option of a few new colors both interior and exterior. We at least expect to see a new infotainment system offered in an upgrade package if nothing else.
5. It’s getting a sporty update
Spycam analysts have their work cut out for them but the photos reveal that there are also going to be a few more changes to the front end. Analytics of the pictures show that there are more creases in the front and hood of the XF, sloping down from the windshield. These minor changes add a bit of muscle and a sportier feel for the wagon.
6. Look for a big instrument cluster
Going back to the interior, it’s believed that the new 2021 Jaguar XF Sportbrake is going to come equipped with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster that will come as a standard feature. We’re also expecting to see the Infotainment screen and Instrument cluster raised in height a bit over the previous setup.
7. Ample cargo space
This is going to be a luxury wagon style car that is made for feeling good when you’re going about your daily errands. It’s going to offer a cargo space of 31.7 cubic feet, and this is with the seats locked into position. If you need the extra room you’ll be able to expand that to 69.7 cubic feet of space, which is no big change over the status quo, still, it’s impressive and a useful feature. Some things are likely to remain the same overall, such as the basic profile of the vehicle along with the length and width of the chassis.
8. Rumors of new technology
There have also been indications that Jaguar is going to give the new XF an upgrade in technology. This seems to be the one area that everyone is the most concerned about with the high level of competition among automakers. It’s believed that we’re going to see an introduction of more cool safety features and possibly some new driver-assist technologies along with a few creature comfort technologies as well.
9. Expect more revisions to the interior
We also learned that the new XF is expected to roll off production lines with a few more updates. These include a new steering wheel with center console revisions. The shifter is likely to move to a more conventional type to replace the rotary gear know. It’s also believed that the XF will follow suit with some of the other model upgrades that Jag has made and it’s likely to introduce revisions to the upholstery and trim with higher quality materials. We’re going on the assumption that passengers are going to enjoy the softer surfaces with the feeling of more space and legroom but this has not yet been confirmed. You’ll still have heated seats, climate control options, and the other accouterments that one would expect in a luxury wagon.
10. It’s getting updates to the drive train
The precise changes that we’re going to see in the drivetrain depend on which market it’s manufactured for. We’re pretty sure that for European models, as well as few other countries there will be a few tweaks made in the diesel engines to fall under emissions compliances. The current guess is that the new XF is going to emerge with a 3.0-liter inline-six engine and that it will crank 395 horsepower with 405 lb-ft of torque with a new mild-hybrid powertrain. This is little more than an educated guess at this point as Jaguar is playing their cards close to the vest.
