Nissan has revealed plans for the pending release of its new Rogue. The vehicle will be released sometime in the Fall of 2020 as a 2021 model. Spyshots in mid-December revealed some interesting facts about the vehicle that has been shrouded in mystery. Here are 10 things we learned about the 2021 Nissan Rogue so far.
1. It’s believed to be the launch of the third-generation
The Rogue is a model that has been around for almost seven years. It’s approaching the time for a new generation and the rumors suggest that 2021 edition will kick off the third-generation of the vehicle. We’ve also heard that it’s rolling off production lines with a new design with some big changes on the inside and the outside.
2. It’s been 6 years since a redesign
The last redesign that the Nissan Rogue was granted happened in the 2014 model. There were some fairly significant updates made, but it’s been a long time since the design and engineering teams made any big changes, other than a few minor tweaks along with way. In a competitive market, it’s almost a given that the 2021 model is going to present something new and exciting to keep up with the rest of the pack.
3. The 2021 Rogue gets a new interior
If you’re a fan of the Nissan Rogue then you’ll be thrilled to learn that there are some big updates coming for the interior. We learned that it’s going to be all-new, and it starts with a large infotainment screen. There will be an update in the size and in the software that operates the screen. This is a welcome change since the previous screen was in need of an upgrade.
4. The price range will be moderate
The projections for the price of the 2021 Nissan Rogue were surprisingly moderate. While we’re expecting to see a new look with tons of upgrades in the first of the new 3rd generation, they’re keeping the prices at a decent level. It is estimated that the base model will be offered for a price tag of around $26,000. Of course, there will be a host of options and trims available with costs that are expected to top out at around $36,000, but this is a rough estimate for now. Nothing has officially been released on pricing yet, other than approximations.
5. The Rogue is Nissan’s best-seller
Nissan’s best-selling vehicle was previously the Altima sedan, but we learned that it has been unseated recently. In 2016, the Rogue surpassed the Altima with a greater volume of sales. This makes the Rogue one of the most important models for the brand. Even with a lack of redesign in the second-generation models, the compact SUV has held its own against the competition. A redesign for the third-generation is something that we can safely assume, but we also have a few facts to go on to support this notion, thanks to the spy shots that have been captured.
6. The exterior will get an upgrade
Although the DNA will remain the same in the new 2021 Nissan Rogue, there are going to be a few significant changes in the exterior. We learned that spy footage shows a detectable thickening of the D pillar. This is combined with a more squared front-end and a V-motion grille that has been widened for the new model. the front will also feature more lender headlights that are higher in their placement.
7. The powertrain is expected to get an upgrade
Although it’s likely that the new Rogue will feature its CMF-C/D platform with an updated version, it’s expected that the SUV will be powered with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that will be made available in a choice of 182 horsepower, or an upgrade in a pricier trim to 188 hp. The torque is respected to be 178 to 180 lb. ft. We also expect it to be available with an all-wheel-drive with a CVT transmission. It’s possible that they’ll produce a trim offering an updated VC-Turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder that will crank 248 hp with 280 lb. ft. of torque, if they’re really serious about making some upgrades.
8. Nissan may have learned its lesson
When Nissan included the third-row option, it created a cramp in the available space and it wasn’t one of their more popular add-ons. Some theorists are speculating that this will no longer be an option that is offered for the 2021 Rogue, but we’ll have to wait and see. There is predicted to be a slight increase in the interior space for the cargo area as well as for the passengers.
9. Interest is high in the new 2021 Nissan Rogue
We’ve seen proof that the new Rogue that is soon to be unveiled is still attracting a lot of attention. Although the brand has done its best to conceal details about their new 3rd-gen Rogue, there have been a lot of photogs and investigative reporters out there scrambling for a good look at the heavily camouflaged vehicle during its test runs. Although they’ve seen enough to make some educated guesses, there is still a lot that we don’t know about the upcoming 2021 Rogue. One thing is for certain, and that is that interest is high in the new SUV.
10. Expect a new digital dashboard
Spy shots have also captured what appears to be a new interior with an updated instrument cluster and a new screen that will be available in a 9-inch size. The inferences and rumors tell us that the interior is going to receive a total redesign and there will not only be upgrades in technology but also in available space as well as for new tech options. We’re still awaiting news on the technology for confirmation.
