There’s plenty of power for a 4 cylinder yet it sips fuel with an i34 on the incredible 24 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. It’s not bad at all for a sports car of its class. The powerplant features a fuel induction sequential multi-port injection system. This is paired with an automatic 6-speed transmission with manual mode. The fuel tank holds a total of 10.5 gallons.
Built for superior handling
Consumer and expert reviews give the new 4C Spider high marks for its nimble handling and high level of responsiveness. It’s a lightweight sporty edition with a curb weight of just 2,487 lbs, a length of 157 inches, wheelbase of 93.7 inches, a width of 73.5 inches including the mirrors and a height of 46.7 inches. Americans won’t have a shot at the coupe edition because it’s not being offered but the Targa-styled Spider in its convertible form is the one edition that will be available.
Luxury in aesthetics only
When you first gaze at the new 2019 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, the beauty of the car is nearly beyond what words can express. The styling is smart and sporty with a hint of sexiness. It’s a masterpiece that catches the eye and makes the heart beat just a little faster. The aesthetics make it appear to be a fine high-end luxury model but if you’re expecting luxury features on the interior, there are some, but the focus isn’t on toys and gadgets within. It’s not offered with power steering, but it handles like a dream. It’s a 2 seater that was made for driving and enjoyment of the handling for the driver and the ride for the passenger. It’s a situation of less being more when it comes to the keen focus placed on what this car is capable of doing on the road, not in luxury interior features.
There are rumors that Alfa Romeo has plans to phase out the 4C in totality by the year 2022 as indicated by the company’s five-year plan. Although the automaker has decided not to confirm the rumor, it seems likely that this is the plan, but for now, the convertible model of the 2018 4C Spider is available for sale in the United States for a price of $67,495.
