A Closer Look at The 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA

The very idea of driving a Mercedes Benz is something that gets most people excited. It doesn’t matter if you like luxury cars or if you’re more prone to drive performance cars, Mercedes has it all. A few years ago, they came up with the Mercedes-Benz CLA, a compact 4-door sedan that was designed to be an entry-level car for people that were looking to become Mercedes owners. It was small and the idea was to provide a low priced car that had all the qualities that make Mercedes-Benz so special, yet because of its low price, it could be enjoyed by virtually anyone. After all, it entered the market with a price tag of about $30,000, meaning that it was only about $10,000 higher than buying a brand new Toyota Camry. People were thrilled, needless to say and sales reflected that when the car experienced more than 750,000 sales. However, there was always something that seem to be lacking with this car. Fortunately, that is no longer the case.

There’s no doubt that people did love the Mercedes-Benz CLA but there’s also no doubt that some people who would otherwise choose to buy a car like this kept their distance because the car wasn’t quite what they were hoping for. It didn’t really come across as a car that belonged to the Mercedes-Benz family and most people would tell you that with the exception of having the logo on the car, it might be difficult to tell that it was in fact a Mercedes. The modern day, second generation version of the car, addresses all of those issues and it does so quite handily. If you’re somebody that’s interested in this particular automobile but you’ve been avoiding making a purchase because you wanted something that was a little sportier, a little classier, and even a little faster, you can now get all of that and more in this car, thanks to upgrades and a lot of serious redesigning.

The first thing that everybody sees is the way the car looks on the exterior. The second generation of the CLA has a more aerodynamic appearance, there’s no doubt about that. The nose is a little sleeker, even sloping down just a little bit. It makes the car look fast and compact all the same time and it proves that it is indeed possible to have a compact sedan that looks like it could take on virtually anything else on the road. All in all, the exterior of the car now looks more like a Mercedes Benz. You could say the same for the interior, on a grand scale. It’s fancy but not over-the-top and it’s a lot roomier than you might expect for a compact sedan. The car has every amenity that you would ever expect to find in any of automobiles made by the major auto manufacturers such as Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota, so on and so forth. It even has a few that you won’t find with those automakers unless you’re paying big bucks for something extra because after all, this is a Mercedes Benz. That being said, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that you would expect to find if you were paying for one of the automobiles in the upper echelons of the car maker’s lineup because you are purchasing an entry-level vehicle. Nevertheless, it’s really easy to forget that this is an entry-level vehicle after just a few minutes on the road.

People buy Mercedes-Benz for two reasons. They want something that is luxurious and they want a car that performs. You can bet that the second generation of the CLA has both of these covered and it does so very well. When you’re behind the wheel, it’s easy to forget that you’re even in a car because the ride is so smooth that you almost feel like you’re floating on air. By the same token, the car has enough power to get you where you want to go without lagging behind or forcing you to stay in the slow lane when you’re trying to merge into traffic. It’s small, so it can both turn and stop on a dime and it’s handling characteristics are second to none. It’s like driving a luxury vehicle on a cloud of air and getting top notch performance, even in the same class that you would expect to get with a sports car. The best part about it is that it’s all rolled into one. That sort of thing doesn’t happen very often so when it does, it’s important to pay attention. When you consider the fact the car is still priced at a level that allows a person on almost any budget to enjoy it, you have to believe that you’ll start seeing a lot more of these cars on the road in the very near future, even compared to the sales that have already been quite impressive.
