A Closer Look at the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel

Once in a blue moon a wristwatch emerges that captures the furthest reaches of one’s imagination in full display. The impeccable genius of the design of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel is something that doesn’t come along every day. The brilliance and allure of this ultra-thin masterpiece call out for a much closer look and thorough examination of its fine details.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel

The case is a small 39mm in diameter in a round shaping with a 10.04mm thickness for a comfortable and light feeling on the wrist. The ultra-thin case is crafted of precious white gold material and is polished to a glowing mirror finish. The bezel features the same high-polished finish and is joined to the case in a unique an gently sloping style that leads into the inset matching thin rim of white gold that holds the sapphire crystal firmly in place as it serves as a protection for the delicate dial beneath. The case back is a screw down type that is left partially open to exhibit the intricate mechanics of the inner workings of the in-house movement that powers the Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel with accuracy.

The dial

The dial is a blue color with a navy hue that is solid throughout with the exception of the area just below the 12 o’ clock and about the 6 o’ clock positions where it appears to have a sunray or slight muted starburst effect which is contained to a small area. You have to look to see it but it’s just another of those fine details that lend the impression of slight texturing. The application of the brand below the 12 o’ clock spot is further enhanced by the variation in the pattern. The indexes are applied white gold upon the blue background of the brilliant enamel dial. We see the in-house metiers in the enamel and guilloche.

The movement

The movement is a caliber 925 in a version which has been upgraded since the time that it was used to power the Master Ultra Thin Moon Phase. It is important to note that the precise identification of the caliber is the 925/2 and it is an in-house innovation. The diameter of the movement is 26mm. It is an automatic winding type with 30 jewels. and it beats at a frequency of 4 Hz at 28,800 vph. The functions are the date, moon phase, hours, minutes and seconds and the power reserve is approximately 70 hours.
