A Closer Look at the Toyota 86 British Green Limited

Toyota Japan has surprised us all with a new vehicle that could be one of the most beautiful creations that the brand has ever conceived. One look at the new Toyota 86 British Green Limited is enough to beg a much closer look at the over the top British racing green outsides with the wonderfully complimentary black and tan themed interior.

Japan’s new 2019 special edition

We all look forward to the new lineups of vehicles produced by the various brands but every once in a while a truly special vehicle is made. Toyota of Japan pulled out all of the stops in their new two seater special edition sports car they’ve named the Toyota 86. When we more closely examine the vehicle, it begins to dawn on us that there is a great deal of beauty to admire but there is also a tremendous amount of symbolism for those who are familiar with the classic era of British racing. The deep green paint choice pays homage to this era and it creates a deeper meaning and value for the car. It has the look of a serious racer before you even get behind the wheel. It’s aerodynamic design makes it looks as though it could sharply cut through any wind resistance to deliver on speed and performance.

More about the design

A minimalist design is the first thing that we notice aside from the breathtaking paint job. The 86 British Green Limited special edition capitalizes on the spirit of the British roadster. As we recall, the British cars which claimed racing victories around the globe featured the green paint that is the highlight of the exterior of the new Toyota as a symbol of speed and a nod to the past.

A glance at the interior of the Toyota 86 British Green Limited Interior

This vehicle features an interior that is a two tone in black and tan in a leatherette upholstery for the seats which also ties into the classic British era symbolically. They’ve saw fit to apply subtle contrast stitching on the black steering wheel and shift boot as well. The standard 86 features silver trim accents. The power train remains the same as the standard 86 so there’s no change there, but they did add 17 inch cast aluminum wheels with a special bronze finish that readily accommodates the red Brembo brake calipers. They’ve also made modifications to improve the underbelly pan to get the most out of the aerodynamics while adding a unique rear spoiler.

Pricing and availability

The verdict on the pricing of this limited special edition vehicle isn’t bad at all. When all is said and done and the current exchange rates are figured in, it will be offered at a cost of $30,035. The vehicle is currently available in Japan and will continue to be sold within the country of its origin throughout May 31 of 2019. The part that many Americans isn’t going to like so well is that the 2019 86 British Green Limited is not considered for sale n the United States at this point in time, well, at least not until the end of May. We’ll have to wait and see what Toyota Japan decides to do at this point, but if you’re interested in making this highly collectible special edition your own, yo’ll need to contact an importer to discuss your options.

Final thoughts

It’s hard to imagine that Japan is keeping this beauty all to themselves, but that’s the sad case. It’s available for import if you’re so inclined. The Toyota 86 British Green Limited Edition is one of those special vehicles that is a variant or iteration of a sibling model and although there are not a lot of significant changes made other than the theme, the colors and a few extra bells and whistles, it’s the symbolism and the intent behind its origination that makes it so special and so highly desired. It’s possible that we may see a few of these beauties show up at local dealers but as of right now, Japan Toyota has given no indication of any plans for export to the United States.
