The Australian landscape encompasses a wide range of environments, which should come as welcome news to those who are interested in experiencing the great outdoors in an up close and personal manner. With that said, it is important to note that there can be a significant difference between one camping ground and the next, which is why those who are planning to spend some time out in the Australian wilderness should look into some of the more pleasing options that are available to them. After all, it could mean the difference between pure misery and something that will remain with them for an entire lifetime.

Here are five of Australia’s top camps for active travelers:

Bamurru Plains

Bamurru Plains can be found situated close to Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory of Australia. As a result, the place is placed on top of floodplains, which can seem like an odd choice to camp for some people but is bound to prove a fascinating place to camp for others. After all, floodplains tend to teem with life, meaning that Bamurru Plains is bound to please those who are interested in seeing some of the Australian animals that can be found in one of its less often-discussed environments. Jervis Bay

New South Wales is home to Booderee National Park, which is situated on a place called Jervis Bay. Lucky Bay

Mitchell Falls

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mitchell Falls can be found in Mitchell Falls National Park, which is situated in Western Australia. This is one of the more remote options that can be found on this list, meaning that interested individuals will want to make sure that they are fully prepared for the camping experience before they head out. However, Mitchell Falls is more than worth it for the simple reason that it is one of the most spectacular sights that can be found in the whole of Australia, seeing as how the titular landmark consists of a four-tier waterfall situated amidst green-patched rock formations full of character. Simply put, the site seems more like something out of a painting than a real life location, thus making it that much more worth seeing.

Mt Field National Park

Mt Field National Park is one of the most interesting sites that can be found in Tasmania. There are a number of reasons to check out the national park as opposed to one of the other possibilities out there, but one of the most visually distinctive might be the swamp gums, which are trees that can reach up to an astonishing 100m.
