10 Things You Didn't Know about Benjamin Humphrey

Benjamin Humphrey

What do you know about Benjamin Humphrey, the CEO of Dovetail? Perhaps you’ve never heard of him or the company. Suffice it to say that Dovetail utilizes high-end technology in the form of an app to analyze recordings and then isolate certain portions of those recordings in order to accomplish a number of different things. In some cases, it's used to make a recording more easily heard than it would otherwise be. In other cases, it's all about finding a particular sound in the background that might not be heard at all without their technology. The company is very research-driven. Obviously, someone that is the CEO of such a company would have to be fairly driven, not to mention technologically savvy. Fortunately, Benjamin Humphrey is both of those things. If you want to know more about him, here are 10 things that you might not know, all of which are fairly intriguing in and of themselves.

1. He also co-founded the company

He isn’t just the CEO of Dovetail. He also helped start the company back in 2016. Considering the fact that most people who work outside of this particular sector would never even dream of creating a company like Dovetail in the first place, it becomes obvious fairly quickly that he’s not only rather skilled when it comes to business and things of a technological nature, but also creative enough to see where problems exist within the world and then think of effective solutions that can address those problems. That's a true gift and it's not something that everyone is capable of doing. A lot of people will complain about things that aren't quite right in the world, but there's not that many of them that will actually figure out what they can do about it and then follow through.

2. He has more experience in collaborative research than most

It's also worth noting that he's been developing these skills for quite some time. In fact, he worked at similar organizations for about 10 years before he ever started his own company. While they weren't similar in every aspect, there were certain similarities in the respect that they all required a high degree of technological understanding and intelligence. You might say that he spent the decade before he started his company honing his skills and gaining an innate understanding of exactly what was required in order to succeed in this particular field of work.

3. He knows how to lead others

He also knows how to lead others effectively. During many of those previous jobs, he served in some type of leadership position. Understanding the technological side of things is one thing, but knowing how to lead people is a different thing entirely. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to do both. Fortunately, that isn't the case here.

4. He likes to indulge his creative side

While some people like to say that you can't possibly be creative if you're also highly analytical, he likes to prove those people wrong. There's no doubt that he's analytical in the extreme. Otherwise, he’d never be able to pull off running the type of business that he does. That said, he's got more than his fair share of creativity and he's not the least bit afraid to put it on full display. In fact, he has questioned more than once why people insist on saying that you can't have both sides to your personality and enjoy both sides equally.

5. He believes in researching practically everything

There's no doubt about it, he believes that through research, you can find out a science-based answer to virtually any question that you have. As a matter of fact, he has never understood why people don't spend more time conducting research before they go off on a mission half-prepared, only to see it fail in the end. To him, it's only natural that something would fail if it isn't thoroughly researched beforehand.

6. He’s taking personalized ads to an entirely new level

His company does a lot of things, and one of those is taking research to a new level for other companies. He personally likes the idea of taking personalized ads to a new level by thoroughly researching behavioral and speech patterns of individuals in order to figure out exactly what makes them tick. That information can then be used to target specific ad campaigns at an individual on social media in order to create ads for products and services that resonate with them on an individual basis. Think of it as a much more personalized version of the type of ads that currently exist on most social media platforms.

7. He likes the idea of creating and maintaining a database dedicated to research

At its core, Dovetail helps researchers do what they do best and then it maintains that information for anyone else who comes along after them. This was something that he created of his own accord because he's always liked the idea of both creating and maintaining a database that's dedicated to doing research. As opposed to having to go to several different sources in order to find the information you're looking for, it's much easier if you can find everything in one place.

8. He likes to read

He has said many times in the past and he enjoys reading. In fact, he's an avid reader. He tends to read books of all kinds, but his favorite is to read biographies and autobiographies of other successful individuals.

9. He’s a fan of Elon Musk

He's never been shy about telling people that he's a big fan of Elon Musk. According to him, Musk has a tendency to instill a sense of empowerment in the people who work for him and that is something that he says he admires a great deal. It's also something that he has set out to emulate himself.

10. He understands the power of using open-source material

He first used open-source material when he was in college to translate an obscure language into several other languages. He says that's when he first began to understand the power of open-source material, as it can unlock a wealth of knowledge for people who otherwise may not have access to such things.
