The 10 Best Restaurants in All of Pittsburgh

Who doesn’t love having the chance to go to a first class restaurant in a town that they’re visiting? Maybe that explains you to a tee or maybe you would prefer to go somewhere where you can just relax and be yourself. If you’re in Pittsburgh, you’re probably interested in knowing where the best places to dine are, because you’re bound to get hungry sooner or later. No matter what your personal preferences might be, Pittsburgh has plenty of options available to you. Below are just 10 of the best, complete with links to each restaurant’s homepage.

Butcher and the Rye

This restaurant doesn’t just have a trendy name, it’s all about making people feel special without being too stuffy in the process. They have some of the best modern day American cuisine that you’re ever likely to experience and they can couple that with cocktails that are crafted in-house. If you’re looking for something that’s a little bit different and doesn’t require you to wear formal clothing in order to enjoy it, this is a stop that you really should make.

Altius

This restaurant serves food that is along the same lines as the one listed above, but there is a major difference between the two. In this particular case, it’s all about taking things to the next level. This is a more upscale restaurant that is known for creating some of the fanciest dishes in the area. It’s also set in a modern establishment, as opposed to Butcher and the Rye, which is far more rustic.

Bar Marco

If you’re more in the mood to go somewhere that doesn’t care as much about decorations or creating that perfect atmosphere, this might be the place for you. It’s based on the minimalist movement, and it encompasses everything in that movement from the way the building is designed to the food that is served. As such, you can get small plates of basic food along with some very good cocktails. If you’re looking for an experience that’s a little different and not quite as formal, this is a good place to start

Eleven

This is a restaurant that puts a premium on glitz and glamour. As such, it may not be the right location for everybody, but for those that like that sort of thing, they should feel right at home. In addition, the restaurant is known for putting a rather interesting twist on its modern-day menu and it also serves some of the best cocktails that you’ll get in Pittsburgh or anywhere else. If you’re looking for a place that stays open late and has a great Happy Hour, this one definitely fits the bill.

Kaya

This restaurant is different, but in the best possible way. It serves mostly island food, including old fashioned recipes like jerk chicken. The atmosphere is great and the food is even better, so if you’re in the mood for something you might find in a place like Jamaica, this is a restaurant that you absolutely have to try

The Capital Grille

If you like steak, this is one of the best upscale steakhouses in the area. They serve all kinds of specialties that you would expect to find in any good steakhouse, along with more than their fair share of brews and cocktails. Since it is a little more upscale, it’s the perfect opportunity to get dressed up, make your reservations and enjoy the evening

The Twisted Frenchman

This is one of the more upscale restaurants in the area, offering authentic French food. Of course, they also have a wine list that is just as expensive as their menu. The thing that really sets them apart is that they also have a tasting menu so you can get exactly what you want before you order, even if you’ve never eaten French food in the past.

APTEKA

For people that prefer a vegan diet, this is the place to be. Everything there is prepared to vegan standards so you don’t have to worry about asking whether or not a certain dish on the menu fits your needs. Instead, all you need to do is go there and enjoy the wide selection that they have available.

Cure

This is a great little restaurant that encompasses a Mediterranean menu. If you’re interested in eating healthier without giving up flavor, it’s one of the best restaurants in the area to try. You’re sure not to be disappointed, as they also have a rather extensive wine list and an atmosphere that is practically second to none.

Burgatory

If the name here doesn’t make you smile, not much will. In addition, this restaurant has some of the best burgers and sides that you’re going to find anywhere in the country, not to mention their hand spun milkshakes that are made from real ice cream. If you’re in the mood for something that provides a throwback to the way food used to taste without feeling dated, this is one of the restaurants that should be on your list.
