Computer technology has evolved to the point of providing the public with virtually, any style and size of the device that suits their needs and preferences. In a highly competitive and changing market, brands are kept on their toes when it comes to gaining a sense of what consumers want, and how to deliver on the features most highly prized. They’re made in a variety of lengths, thicknesses, weights and come with a variety of pros as well as drawbacks. Another consideration is keeping the cost at a competitive rate. With all of these requirements in mind, we’ve researched the tablets which are available for 2019 and have identified the best 20 as rated by consumers, for your consideration.
20. Amazon Fire HD 8
This is a model that has carried over with sales from the 2018 release, and it’s still one of the best options for 2019. The design team offered a few upgrades which made this an improvement over the previous model for users who prefer an 8-inch screen. The front-facing camera received an upgrade with the capacity to issue Alexa voice commands, and the screen is nice and bright for high legibility. The speakers offer good volume height and the storage is expandable through the micro SD slot. There are also plenty of parental controls available. These are the pros. The main drawback is that charging is slow and takes about 6 hours to fully recharge the battery.
19. Microsoft Surface Go
The Microsoft Surface Go is one of the more popular tablets that features a great surface design with a ton of accessories which are available in a smaller size and at a lower price. It’s ideal for those who need the function of a computer in a small size that makes it portable and easy to take with you on the go. The price is lower than many in its class because of the miniaturization, and those which are larger are more expensive, although this one isn’t exactly cheap. On the downside, the necessary keyboard cover is sold separately as an add on, and the standard model is a bit lacking in RAM and storage capacity, so the extra charge to upgrade to a higher capacity is recommended.
18. HP Chromebook X2
The HP Chromebook X2 is a middle of the road tablet in pricing. It’s a two-in-one laptop and tablet combination that is quite easily converted from one to the other. It also comes with a keyboard and stylus. What we like about this tablet is the responsive touchscreen. The speakers are excellent with ample sound volume and quality and it comes with a ton of connections and ports, with two cameras as well. The main drawback is that it only comes with 32 GB of integrated storage, but if you don’t need a lot then this could be a great choice. It performs quickly and has an amazing display, making it a great value for the cost.
17. IPad Pro
The iPad Pro, like the Amazon Fire HD 8 is a carryover from 2018, but it’s still available for sale as brand new for 2019. This unit has an amazing screen design which was new for 2018, and the performance is highly ranked as being lightning fast. The only downside to the iPad Pro is that it requires the use of a pencil and keyboard folio case and they don’t come with the basic unit. You have to buy them on your own. These items aren’t compatible with previous versions. There’s only one USB-C port and there isn’t a headphone jack, so there are some things to consider that could detract from the fact that it’s one of the fastest tablets out there.
16. Microsoft Surface Pro 6
The Surface Pro 6 is one of the more expensive tablets in our list of the top 20 for 2019, but it comes in with high ratings on features, design, performance and the battery in the 8 to 9 range out of a possible 10. What we love about the Surface Pro 6 is that it features new quad-core processors that intensify the performance. It comes with an amazing kickstand as well as keyboard and the black color gives it a great aesthetic. The stylus and keyboard cover are sold separately and you really should have them, but the high performance makes this one of the best tablets of the year.
15. Samsung Galaxy Tab S4
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 features a fantastic HDR AMOLED display. Other advantages of this feature-packed tablet are the impressive S pen that is included, unlike with many other tablets that are even more expensive, and the DEX mode that offers a laptop-style when you prefer this to the tablet-style. The UI is a big improvement over the standard Android home screen. The 10.5-inch display is in HDR and this makes it easier to see. The battery life is also fairly impressive, but it could be made a little better if it had more RAM and if the glass back didn’t show the fingerprints so well.
14. Apple iPad Mini 5
This is an edition that just came out in 2019. It offers a very good display and it works well with Pencil. Another benefit is that this tablet is extremely powerful and offers excellent performance. The Apple iPad Mini 5 is a great choice for those who like to play iOS games on a 7.9-inch display screen and besides, the battery life is excellent for hours of play on a full charge.
