A Closer Look at Bombardier’s New Global 8000 Flagship

Bombardier's New Global 8000 Flagship

More often than not, people have a tendency to think about business jets as being more or less of a cookie-cutter design. It’s easy to understand why so many people think of them in this manner. For years, business jets all seemed to end up with a similar design. It started with the Learjet decades ago. That particular design was both popular and functional. As a direct result, virtually every other company from Cessna to Bombardier decided to copy it in one manner or another. The end result was an entire army of business jets that looked so similar that it was often difficult to tell one from the other. Even people who were well-versed in aviation would sometimes have problems telling the difference between the Gulfstream and the Bombardier sitting right next to it. You might be glad to know that with Bombardier’s newest design, the Global 8000, all of that has changed. As a matter of fact, this newest design has become the company’s flagship business jet and it’s easy to understand why. By the way, if you think the only thing this jet has going for it is it looks, think again. It’s more than capable of holding its own against anything that any other company out there has to throw at it.

An Aerodynamic Design

Even if you don’t know anything about the specifications of this particular jet, you can’t help but notice that there’s something very different about it. Even at first glance, it just looks like it’s something special. Perhaps it’s the fact that it’s longer than a lot of other business jets, incorporating the capacity to allow several people to travel in style at one time instead of only having room for 10 or so passengers. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s designed specifically to look like it’s literally cutting through the air, with its downward sloped nose that creates an uber-aerodynamic design. Perhaps it has something to do with the gentle sweeping motion of the T-tail which gives the jet a delicate, graceful appearance that makes it look like it could practically do ballet in the sky. There’s no doubt about it, this jet looks graceful and that’s largely because it is. However, it’s also designed to be better than the competition in almost every comparison. That starts with its speed. It’s able to go Mach .94, almost the speed of sound. In addition, it has an 8,000 nautical mile range, something that is almost unheard of with business jets. The truth of the matter is that if you want to be able to transport a lot of people and get them there very quickly without forcing them to make constant stops to refuel, it’s almost impossible to find anything in the skies that can even come close to competing with this jet.

Smooth as Glass

You already know that the Bombardier 8000 looks good and that it is capable of flying faster and further than virtually anything else out there. However, you should also know that it’s capable of getting you there in style, just like virtually every other business jet the company has ever produced. As a matter of fact, it’s designed with all of the latest technology. It has what is often referred to as a glass cockpit, meaning that incorporates fly-by-wire design. In short, sophisticated computers do the lion’s share of the flying while pilots simply guide the jet through takeoff and landing and make sure that everything is up to par throughout the flight. It results in a more stable, smoother flight for crew and passengers alike. This particular jet is said to be so smooth that it is practically like floating on a cloud. Even when the air that the jet is flying through isn’t exactly cooperative, you’re a lot less likely to notice the turbulence in this particular jet than you are with many others, largely because of the sophisticated electronics used to keep it balanced in such situations. Just in case you’re wondering, it also has specific design elements incorporated into it that are meant to keep the cabin air circulating with fresh air on a continuous basis, making it one of the healthiest ways to travel.

Undeniable Comfort

This particular jet also has four distinct zones for individuals who are traveling. In other words, you have the capacity to keep yourself and your party a safe distance away from other people who might also be flying in the aircraft at the same time as a means of maintaining your personal health and the health of those around you. The cabin is designed in such a way that everyone has plenty of space and privacy as opposed to being cooped up together or crammed in there like sardines, something that was definitely a problem with a lot of earlier business jets. It’s almost like being able to travel on your very own business jet and travel in first-class accommodations, all at the same time. It’s really a very unique experience and one that every person deserves to have in order to truly appreciate it all. To make this particular jet even more impressive, it’s capable of short takeoffs and landings, making it a jet that can travel to virtually any airport with relative ease. It’s almost unheard of that you have all of these things combined into a single aircraft. Obviously, it’s easy to understand why Bombardier is so proud of this particular jet. There is every reason to believe that this aircraft will change the face of business jets moving forward. If you’re excited to get one for yourself, you’re going to have to wait a bit, as the aircraft are not scheduled to be available for purchase by the public until 2025. That being said, it is well worth the wait.
