A Closer Look at the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon

Volkswagen has always produced some unique automobiles. After all, who could forget the iconic VW Bus or the fun-loving Beetle, both models that were exceptionally popular during the 1960s and 70s. Over the years, Volkswagen has actually done a decent job of providing some good quality automobiles at fair prices. However, they haven’t really been a frontrunner in the United States for quite some time, largely because they have a tendency to get overshadowed by other companies like Toyota, Ford, and Chevrolet. However, all of that could potentially change with the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon. This is an automobile that practically screams Volkswagen, yet it has a little touch of class that most cars from this manufacture don’t seem to have. It will start being sold in the United States this fall, and is intended to replace the Volkswagen CC, which hasn’t been as popular as the company had hoped.

The first thing that you are likely to notice about this car when you look at it is that it has some stunningly beautiful lines incorporated into its design. This is a car that could easily compete with an Audi, a Ford, or virtually any other automobile out there as far as looks go. With that being said, Volkswagen made a point to incorporate the carmaker’s rich heritage into those lines as well. This gives the car a sophisticated yet sporty look that people are sure to love. To go with its new sporty appearance, the car is designed for superb handling, thanks to a wider than average wheelbase and the fact that the car sits relatively low to the ground.

As far as performance goes, the engine is a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder that is capable of producing roughly 268 horsepower. Married to an 8-speed automatic transmission, the car is not going to turn heads for its performance. In reality, that isn’t what it was designed to do in the first place. Instead, Volkswagen designed this car for daily driving, driving long distances, and fuel economy. Despite the fact that the car is not designed to be a performance maker, your average person is not likely to have any issues with the horsepower that is available, as the car is perfectly capable of performing in a similar fashion to most of the 4 cylinder automobiles that are offered today in the U.S.

As previously mentioned, this is a car that gets outstanding fuel economy. While the exact numbers have not yet been released, you can expect the car to easily compete with automobiles like the Toyota Corolla, a car that has long been heralded for its ability to go long distances on a single tank of gas. Volkswagen even decided to design an all-wheel drive version of the Arteon, something that you can choose as an added feature. This might cut down on fuel economy slightly, but it also makes the car handle better, especially while cornering and in adverse weather conditions.

Customers will undoubtedly love the fact that the Arteon features a much roomier interior than the Volkswagen CC, which it is essentially replacing. The added room can especially be noticed for those sitting in the back seats. The car also features a nice looking interior that is competitive with many of the other mid-priced models available today. As far as price is concerned, Volkswagen hasn’t yet announced the exact selling price. However, it is expected that the car will sell in the same general price range as the Toyota Camry, making it an affordable option for many individuals that want a good car with solid performance that will last for a long time.

By all accounts, it looks like Volkswagen has designed something that truly has some staying power when it comes to the Arteon. In fact, many people wonder if this car will ultimately become as popular as the Beetle and the VW Bus once were. Only time will tell if that is the case, but this car seems to have everything going for it as far as looks, performance and price range are concerned. It will be interesting to see how well the car is received in the United States. If all goes well, it could potentially become a new favorite on roads across the country.
