The Five Best Catalina Island Hotels

Are you planning to pay a visit to Catalina Island soon? If you’re a first-time visitor you may not be familiar with the hotels in the area. With so many to choose from it can be hard to know which would be the best option. We’ve put together a list of the top five hotels on Catalina Island to make it easier. Pavilion Hotel

The Pavilion is a 3-star hotel that offers reasonable rates along with a nice array of amenities. It’s located right across the street from South Beach and if you want to enjoy some entertainment, the Green Pleasure Pier and the Catalina Casino are both just a few minutes’ walks away. The rooms are spacious and airy and come equipped with flat screen HD televisions, iPod docks, shared patios and coffeemakers. There’s a lovely garden to stroll through and transfers from the boat dock are at no charge. Beach access, a fitness center, and free breakfast are included. Guests give the Pavilion a 4.5-star rating.

The Old Turner Inn

The Old Turner in is one of the most romantic getaways in all of Catalina Island. It’s an elegant Bed and Breakfast in a Cape Cod style, built in 1927. Its 2 miles from Wrigley Botanical gardens. Guests enjoy private furnished terraces and individually styled rooms that feature antique furnishings and a lovely ambiance. Each room comes with a television, free WiFi, fireplaces and more amenities. The parking is free and guests enjoy their breakfast served in a lounge area that has a grand piano, fireplace and a porch for their enjoyment. There are evening receptions offering wine and snacks. Guests give this B&B an overall rating of 4.9 which is hard to beat.

The Avalon Hotel

The Avalon Hotel was built in the 1920s and it offers a lovely Crastman type decor. It’s an upscale hotel featuring three stories of gues tooms, located behind the landmark Casino with views of Avalon Harbor and its numerous yachts which are coming and going. Each guest room comes with flat screen television and DVD players, microwaves, fridges and some offer balconies with ocean views. Afternoon refreshments are free for guests and a continental breakfast is served in the morning. Taxi service is free to and from the ferry pier. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the panoramic views from the rooftop deck, the patio garden with a koi pond, fire pit and fountain. Guests give the Avalon Hotel a rating of 4.5 out of a possible 5 stars for excellence.

Portofino Hotel

The Portofino Hotel is a 3-star rated hotel which overlooks Avalon Bay. It’s designed in a refined Mediterranean style and conveniently located within minutes walking distance from the ferry terminal and the Green Pleasure Pier. It’s two miles from Wrigley Botanical Gardens. The guest rooms and suites are polished and come with cable tv, wifi, minifridges, private bathrooms, toiletries, and most feature plantation shutters that open into the courtyard for lovely and relaxing views. the suites feature marble bathrooms and are equipped with wet bars, soaking tubs, balconies with mountain or ocean views and gas fireplaces. Guest rate this hotel at a 4.4.

Hotel Metropole

Hotel Metropole is one of the most highly recommended hotels in all of Catalina Island. It is an upscale hotel that sits within a complex of buildings built in stucco architecture. it overlooks the yacht harbor. It’s conveniently located within one block of the Catalina Casino and just a half mile from the pier. Guest rooms feature flat-screen televisions and DVD players with free Wifi. Some of the suites come with ocean view balconies, fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. Guests may enjoy a free continental breakfast an on-site spa with cafes, and restaurants for French Quarter themed shopping within close proximity. This upscale hotel is rated with a 4.4 out of 5.
