g-ro

The world is on the edge of a new revolution in the way that we use carry on luggage. A new type of smart luggage is about to hit the market in force. The G-RO carry on may in fact be the invention that lands it in the position of the world’s best carry on luggage. We recently reviewed the company that has begun manufacturing of this innovation and although they’re not available yet, they’re on the way. The scheduled release date is set for the end of October, 2016. The Travel Light company has finished its’ prototype and is now at the manufacturing and marketing stage with the final product. In a few short descriptive words, it does not fail to impress.

The Travel-Light Company

Travel-Light is a new start up company that has launched a Kickstarter campaign of $125,000 to fund their new invention, the G-RO line of carry on luggage. They are based out of Tel Aviv, Israel. The founder and CEO of the company is Netta Shalgi, along with his co-founder Ken Hertz. A fourteen person crew of engineers, designers and marketing experts have combined their talents to create, produce and market the G-RO brand.

The process began with inception of the idea in 2014. The funding program began in 2015 with tooling taking place between January of 2015 through April of 2016. The quality check has been done and the manufacturing application programming occurred in August. In October of 2016, Travel-Light realized its’ dream and the G-RO is ready to ship.

The G-RO Carry on difference

G-RO is a new brand that features smart technology. It’s a companion bag that is designed for use by busy people. It’s big enough for a week long trip but is lightweight and durable for smaller trips. The Wheel innovation gives it amazing maneuverability. Larger wheels are more durable and the patented design keeps the center of gravity of the load to the center for easier rolling in all terrain types.

Specifications

Extra long adjustable handle

The handle is made of aircraft grade aluminum and extends an additional six inches more than standard carry on wheeled bags. The handle telescopes in four stages. It is adjustable so travelers can find the best length with ease. The handle is ergonomically designed for increased comfort.

Bag materials

Top grade Ballistic nylon is a strong material and this is used in the creation of G-RO luggage. The Aerospace and firearm grade polymers are mold injected to make the bag crush proof, tough and durable so you will be able to depend on its’ performance for years under heavy use. The YKK nylon zippers are also patented with a roller coaster design that distributes the stress for longer life and less hassle.

The exterior of the G-RO is fully waterproof and features an arched belly so it not only stays dry, it wont scrape the ground when pulled over uneven terrain.

Wheels

The unique and patented wheel design is what gives this bag additional strength. They are made of firearm grade polymers which makes them ultra strong. Their placement helps to strengthen the walls of the bag while distributing the load weight towards the center of the bag. The bag pulls more easily, evenly and it feels lighter when fully packed.

Interior space

Large interior compartment to hold personal items. It also includes a smaller easy access pocket for liquids that can be carried on, a work item compartment for charging laptop while travelling and a personal pocket for essentials.

Powerful smart bag

The G-RO smart bag has a built in charging station and stand with two USB ports for charging smart phones and laptops. It also features a G-RO power and G-RO tracker complete with a 23,000 mAh battery for phone and laptop or tablet charging at the same time. The DC output is universal. It comes complete with a wireless proximity detector and a location tracker. It also includes a TSA friendly lock. The G-RO tracker and proximity detectors work off of GSM GPRS technology along with Bluetooth Smart/Bluetooth low energy technology for ensuring that the bag doesn’t get too far away from you. The app is compatible with Android and iOS smart phones.

Additional subscription services

You also have the option of signing up for tracking subscriptions through the mobile app. The cost for these add on services is $4.99 for one month, $19.99 for six months and $29.99 for a full year.

Pricing

The G-RO is available in the USA for ordering now. For $399.99 you can purchase the G-RO bag and you’ll receive a survey within ten days of payment. At this time you will choose between the silver/black option or stealth black. For $499.99, you get the back and in addition, the G-RO carry on bag with power and the G-RO tracker. The company gives two different options because they realize that not everyone would make use of the tracking or charging technology, but the bag alone makes an amazing carry on.

Final thoughts

Travel-Light has developed an innovative product that could well change the travel luggage industry. It has all of the earmarks of being a success with busy people who could really benefit from all of the features that it has to offer. Who could have imagined that a carry on that provides full charging for smart phones, tablets and laptops simultaneously would be achievable. G-ROs are already being claimed and it’s early in the marketing phase so it appears that consumers are exciting about the prospects.

We’re expecting great things from this new start up company and the G-RO may just be the first in a line of more products that can help to add comfort and convenience to the lives of busy travelers. The price is reasonable for the quality and capabilities of this new smart carry on luggage. Is G-RO the world’s best carry on luggage? It could be and we’ll know more as the consumer reviews start to roll in, but in the mean time, expectations are high.
