How Gwen Stefani Achieved a Net Worth of $100 Million

You might know Gwen Stefani the singer, or you might know her as a judge and mentor on the popular singing competition on television called The Voice. You may also know her as an actress, or simply as the girlfriend to country music star Blake Shelton. No matter how you know Gwen Stefani, one thing you might not know is that she has accumulated a net worth of over $100 million. That is quite a sum of money, so let’s recount some of the ways she got there and look at where she is heading.

Her Career To This Point

Stefani’s claim to fame comes as a pop star. In fact, she has been an icon in the industry for decades. Many people who are fond of the music from the 80s will remember her as the co-founder of the popular group No Doubt. One of their albums entitled the Tragic Kingdom is diamond-certified, and that would bring the group to the mainstream, with Gwen Stefani as the figurehead. This particular album had a ska feel to it, and it is released at the perfect time. Many in society had begun to turn back to this sound, and No Doubt was able to deliver it to them. One of their singles from that album, Don’t Speak, ended up breaking all kinds of records as it said number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay Chart for more than four months. This meant that just about everyone with a radio heard this song and became aware of Gwen Stefani. She was well on her way to making millions by the point.

Branching Out

Gwen Stefani would go down the path of many artists who began their career with a group, as she decided to launch her own solo career back in 2004. She did this when No Doubt decided to take a break from performing together. She was pretty much an instant success and has continued her solo performances for well over a decade now. She did bring No Doubt between 2009-2013, but it was obvious by this point that her solo career was where the money and recognition were at for Stefani at this point. As a singer and songwriter, she has won three Grammy Awards. She has also received countless public accolades that illustrate her success. Worldwide, she has now sold more than 30 million albums, which has also earned her a presence on the 100 Greatest Women in Music List.

A Judge

Gwen Stefani is so well respected in the music industry that she was invited to be a judge on the popular singing competition titled The Voice. She was picked to join the show during season 7, and she would replace Christina Aguilera as judge and mentor. Interestingly enough, she got the job because Aguilera was about to have her second child. So, a friend of Stefani’s called her and said that she should take her place on the show. The rest, as they say, is history. She had to choose between The Voice or ABC’s Rising Star, but the rumor is that Pharrell joining The Voice for the same season helped influence her decision. As far as her net worth goes, she appears to have made the right decision.

Money Coming In

While all of the coaches on The Voice are actually paid quite well for their work, Stefani cashed in more handsomely than others. While Christina Aguilera still holds the prize as the highest paid on the show, earning $17 million per season, Gwen Stefani did not do too bad. She would earn $10 million for the first season that she was on the show. To put that into perspective, CeeLo Green ‘only’ made $2 million per season when he was on the show. Usher earned $7 million and Alicia Keys earned $8 million. That is some pretty good company, and Stefani comes out on top. This money would greatly impact her net worth over time. While she is no longer a full-time judge on the show, she does come back from time to time to offer some special mentoring sessions to the contestants. This earns her even more money.

So, there you have it. Through a combination of singing with a group, launching a solo career, and being a judge and mentor, Gwen Stefani has been able to earn $100 million. She is still going strong. She has a personal relationship with Blake Shelton, so her name continues to be in the limelight. While she has not launched any new music lately, her fans will be right there waiting when she does.
