How are You Going to Achieve your 2018 Goals?

If you’ve set your goals for 2018, have you determined how you’ll achieve them?  Organization and Time Management are critical for both your productivity and your sanity.  Be purposeful with every step of your plan.  If you have a purposeful planning session, you will be exponentially more productive and less stressed.

Traditional planners aren’t designed to get you organized.  They are designed to have a pretty, perfectly planned plan to carry around with you.  But how do you get to that perfectly planned plan?   That’s simple – having a planning system will allow you to really narrow down all you need to do, your business and personal goals. A system, not a planner, will help you not only design the perfect battle plan for your business, but also keep you on the right path to accomplish your plans.

I often talk to my clients about the steps in planning.  Plan your plan to better evaluate your Plan, so that you can better prioritize your Plan; so that your Plan is well planned!  Real planning takes time and effort. Here are some tips to create purposeful planning time and a system that will be effective:

Never try to remember anything.

When we try to remember things we are instantly setting ourselves up for failure.  Your brain is meant for greater things such as moving ahead in your business. It is not for trying to remember the things that you need to do.  Have a maximum of 2 places that you write things down or put things that should be done.  I use my Bullet Journal or My Amazon Alexa. Alexa also has an app on my phone so that I always have the list.

Block or theme your time to get things you dislike done first.

Dedicate your time to getting the difficult tasks done.  Once those are completed, you can move on to other tasks.

Schedule your planning time

Carve out time for the following:

a.     Brain dump
b.     Project Sheets
c.     Prioritize the tasks on these project sheets
d.     Schedule your tasks

Reflect on what you have scheduled and spend time making sure that you are following your plan.  

Reflecting also helps you make sure that you are checking on your process  often to stay on track, but to also adjust your coarse as needed. Planning time can be what makes or breaks your business.  Make sure you are prepared and have the tools you need to set your perfectly planned Plan in place.
