A Closer Look at The Junghans Max Bill Edition Set 60

The Junghans Max Bill Edition Set 60 is a watch that stands head and shoulders above the crowd. There are many things that make it different. Some would even say that it is superior to other watches that are considered to be in a similar class. Clearly, this subject is subjective. However, it may be a judgement that you end up agreeing with once you have read more about this dynamic timepiece. If you want to know more, all you have to do is keep reading.

The Foundation

The watch itself is quite impressive, to be sure. However, the company that produces it is just as impressive, a statement that few people would argue with. In fact, they have been manufacturing watches since 1861. Clearly, the company knows what it takes to manufacture a timepiece that is capable of standing up to the elements. This particular watch pays homage to that desire to create something that has the capability to enjoy a life span that is two or three times that of most humans. In addition, it also serves as an anniversary piece for the original watch created by Max Bill in 1961. That particular watch was created for Junghans. The newest edition is designed to harken back to earlier times, all while incorporating top-notch technology that only the newest products could possess.

About The Set

The thing that really makes this new product unique is that it is a set of three watches, all very different from one another, yet all designed to incorporate that foundation that was created by Max Bill back in the 1960s. As such, the set contains three watches, all with 38mm steel cases and all coated with anthracite PVD. The former makes the watches big enough to stand out in a crowd and the latter makes them durable enough to last for decades. All of the watches incorporate the same minimalist design that was made famous during 1961. They are simplistic in their beauty. In fact, many would argue that it is this minimalist design and that makes them so beautiful in the first place. The watch has an opportunity to stand on its own as opposed to relying on having a bunch of bells and whistles or other parlor tricks in order to gain the attention of consumers.

About The Watches

As previously mentioned, all of these watches are similar, yet they are all distinctly different at the same time. The first watch in the collection is a very standard timepiece with three hands. It is an automatic watch, meaning that you don’t have to worry about winding it up every time you decide to wear it. One of its sister watches looks very much like the first design, with a couple of major exceptions- there is no second hand because there is a small stopwatch located on the lower central portion of the face. Both of these watches also incorporate the date. Out of the three, the third watch is arguably the most advanced. It has a similar appearance, but that is where most of the similarities end. This is a quartz watch that has only one hand on the main part of the face. It is accompanied by a smaller hour hand on the top central portion of the face and a stopwatch directly underneath it. This particular example does not include the date. This was done to keep the face as clean as possible.

A Limited Product

One of the most important things that you need to know about this particular set is that the company will not be producing it indefinitely. In fact, they only plan to produce roughly 1,060 pieces in total. That means that they will probably only be producing a little more than 350 sets. Of course, things can always change but that is the current plan. That means that anyone who genuinely wants to get their hands on one of these sets shouldn’t wait around for too long. Considering the fact that the watches come from a top German watchmaker and incorporate special design to commemorate one of its most celebrated products, it only stands to reason that these sets will probably go fairly quickly. Anyone who is lucky enough to find one after the fact is probably going to end up paying two or even three times the original asking price. Therefore, it would be in your best interest to purchase the set directly from the company as opposed to waiting and being forced to purchase the set from a collector at a later date.

Form And Function

There is no doubt that this watch possesses a striking appearance. However, its beauty does not end there. In reality, the function of this set of watches is nothing short of spectacular in its own right. One only has to look at the quality involved in order to understand how much thought and effort went into producing this particular set of watches. For example, the quartz movement of one of the watches in the set comes into play, as does the leather band that is included on all three examples. As previously mentioned, the cases are made of steel. Even the glass is special, consisting of sapphire crystal that is domed and coated in a special non-reflective coating on both the front and back. All of this comes together to create a very special set of timepieces that are as durable as they are beautiful. In short, it is a set that virtually anyone would be happy to call their own, one that can easily be passed down from one generation to the next. At the end of the day, it’s all about finding something that compliments one’s personal taste with a product that is durable enough to stand the test of time. This set of watches is easily capable of accomplishing both goals. It’s one of the reasons that the German watchmaker behind it all, Junghans, has been around for well more than 100 years. It’s also the reason that these watches will probably still be functioning like new, decades down the road.
