Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous 2016 Preview


The inaugural Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous at Kata Beach in Phuket, Thailand is set for December 10-12 of this year. This will be a spectacular event that will bring together superyacht owners, industry professionals and villa owners to connect, showcase their vessels, build relationships and relax in a beautiful, Southeast Asian, oceanfront setting. This is the ultimate stage for Superyacht connoisseurs to see the latest designs in the world of superyachts, tour some of the most innovative and uniquely designed superyachts worldwide, and mingle with likeminded people, as well as meet an array of other people in the yachting industry.

About Kata Rocks

The island of Phuket is home to over 600,000 people when you include migrant workers and long-term tourists. The famous Kata Rocks is oceanfront and sits at the southern end of the famous Kata Beach which runs along Phuket’s west coast. Kata Rocks is well known for its exclusive and luxurious Sky Villas with an award-winning Infinite Luxury Spa and fitness suite. It has been named one of the 25 best hotels in South East Asian by Conde Nast Travelers Readers’ Choice Awards.

Kata Rocks has hosted superyacht rendezvous in the past recent years, however, this is the first that it has launched. Every guest will have access to all the comforts and luxuries of the Spa and resort to relax and indulge-in for three full days while they participate in the different events surrounding the world of yachting. This is an event that will tightly link South East Asia with the superyacht world and will only secure its reputation in the future.

Who will be hosting the rendezvous?

The Kata Rocks superyacht rendezvous will be hosted this year by one of the most distinguished names in property development and management, Infinite Luxury. Richard Pope is the CEO of Infinite Luxury and has spent over 25 years developing and managing an array of successful real estate and construction companies; first in the London area and now in Phuket. He and his team found the sought after property that is now Kata Rocks and developed it into the one of the most prestigious, luxurious Villa resorts world wide.

Who’ll be attending?


The rendezvous is open to sailing and motorized superyachts measuring over 24 meters, both those already based in the Phuket area as well as those coming from other areas for visitation. The guest list is by invitation only with some of the biggest names in the world of yachting are on the list, from some of the most prestigious and world-renowned ship builders to the biggest names as yacht owners and charter companies.

Designers and other industry professionals will also be attending the event who want to connect and discuss ideas in a more relaxed, social environment outside of the normal business atmosphere. Villa owners are also welcome to participate in the event-packed weekend, and you can bet there will be plenty of media coverage to document this grandeur event.

Some of the biggest names in yacht building that are already confirmed to attend are: Feadship, Edminston, Bennetti, Princess Yachts, Bristol Charters, PMYA Asia Yachting, Northrop & Johnson, Simpson Marine, Seal Superyachts and Yacht Solutions, for starters. An array of superyacht owners and well-known charter brokers from all over will be attending this prestigious superyacht rendezvous.

What is the purpose of the superyacht rendezvous?

Yacht builders and designers love the opportunity to come together and admire the work of their competitors, show off their developments and unveil their latest projects. Owners and chart are also set to attend. The rendezvous is the perfect opportunity to show off their flagships, and charter brokers are always anxious to create a buzz and get publicity for their luxury vessels as well as those who are considering chartering, they will have the opportunity to meet the right people to learn the ins and outs of the charter business.


There are events that will take place on and off the water over the three day engagement. Everyone involved in the weekend will have full access to, and can indulge in all that the resort facilities have to offer. There will be a welcome reception on a superyacht, as well as you can join in on a cruise with the fleet to a secluded beach for an exclusive, gourmet BBQ. Other events include presentations by yachting professions, a ‘yacht hop,’ ‘big boys toys’ on the water, ‘Gins of the World’ sunset cocktails and an elite Feadship ‘owners’ sit down dinner, served in Kata Rock’s famous Sky Villa Penthouse. The grand finale event that concludes the three day rendezvous is the Kata Rocks Charter Season Opening Party.

Attendees will also enjoy other various receptions and ceremonies as well as lots of time for meet-and-greets with a wide range of yacht industry professionals and yacht lovers.
