How Lewis Hamilton Achieved a Net Worth of $285 Million

Lewis Hamilton is a champion racing driver from the United Kingdom. He made history by becoming the first Black driver to compete in Formula One racing. He is also the only Black driver in the sport. He serves as a role model for young men who are interested in breaking into the sport for themselves. He’s made a fortune through out his career and has a net worth of $285 million. This is a remarkable amount of money and here is how he did it.

His early years

Lewis Hamilton was born in Stevenage, UK in January of 1985 to his parents Carmen Labalestier and Anthony Hamilton. His mother raised him after she separated from his father. Lewis Hamilton was named after Carl Lewis, the champion Olympic sprinter. He was destined to achieve greatness from the time of his birth. He has not disappointed.

Lewis Hamilton’s career

Lewis Hamilton made a magnificent show in the 2007 Formula One racing. He set several records during the season and ended up coming in one point behind the champion for that year,Kimi Raikkonen. He did, however come in at the second position, which was still a feat in and of itself.

Hamilton shines in 2008

The very next year, Lewis raced in the Formula One Series and his driving was nothing short of spectacular. He won his first world championship and finished ahead of Felipe Massa by just one point. He achieved this victory in the last race of the season. Those who knew Lewis were not surprised by the victory as he’s a talented race car driver. He went on to further victories taking the Formula One World Championship title again in 2014, then repeating it in 2015. After his initial championship win in 2008, Hamilton continued to compete but achieved no higher ranking than  fourth position. This was true up until he made improvements in the 2014 season with his win and again the next year.

Controversy around his driving

There were a few track maneuvers Lewis made that generated a bit of controversy. He has consistently been a figure in Formula 1 racing that has attracted media attention. His rivalry with Fernando Alonso of Spain has resulted in unkind words from the fans of Alonso and at a race in Spain, he was on the receiving end of racial abuse from some of the Spanish enthusiasts. Hamilton readily admits that he is extremely competitive and this has caused issues with some of the other drivers in Formula One racing. Another criticism that has been directed towards Hamilton has been the fact that he lives outside of the United Kingdom to avoid paying taxes. We’re not convinced that this is the reason why he does this, but as we said earlier, he gets a lot of attention and not all of it is positive.

Another career sideline

In addition to being a famous race car driver, Hamilton has also appeared in a major film. He made an appearance in “Zoolander 2.” Technically, he’s been an actor although he has not since appeared in any films. He has also made millions from his brand endorsements. He, like many other famous sports figures has been courted to support a variety of products and the deals were very rewarding.

How did Lewis Hamilton achieve a net worth of $285 million?

Lewis Hamilton is currently signed with the Vodafone Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team. He continues to earn revenue from both his professional racing and through his endorsements. He brought in $50 million between 2016 and 2017 alone. He added another $51 million to that between 2017 and 2018. That’s more than $100 million in just two years. Lewis Hamilton has earned the bulk of his fortune through the prize money that he’s earned as a world class Formula One race car driver, along with revenue that comes in from his endorsements. He’s achieved a tremendous measure of success through his career. He also serves as a fantastic role model for young men and women who also dream of becoming a race car driver. He’s set the precedent for Black people by becoming the first champion but this wasn’t all, he kept coming back and repeating his win.
