A Closer Look at Lufthansa Technik’s Explorer

Having an opportunity to fly on a private jet can be somewhat exciting, but there are also some inherent limitations, or at least there were until Lufthansa Technik introduced the Explorer. After all, when most people think about private jets they think of a Cessna Citation or maybe a Learjet. The thing is, the world of air travel is undergoing something of a metamorphosis, largely due to the fact that business has truly become a global enterprise in recent years. There was a time not all that long ago when it was okay to fly on a relatively Plain Jane private jet that was only capable of going a couple thousand miles or so before it needed to stop and refuel. These days, that’s old news. People that are traveling in the modern-day world need a private jet that’s capable of InterContinental flights and they need something that can be customized to fit their needs at any given point in time. The best jets are capable of doing all these things and serving as the epitome of luxury to boot. That’s precisely what the Explorer does. The truth is, it’s hard to believe that something like this even exists unless you are able to see it for yourself. That means that it definitely warrants a closer look.

The Jet‘s Unassuming Exterior

One of the things that is so amazing about the Explorer is that it looks so unassuming from the outside. In fact, it looks like your everyday airliner unless you’re actually inside of it. That’s because it is an airliner in its purest form, or at least it was before Lufthansa Technik got a hold of it and converted it into something truly special. The aircraft that they decided to use is an Airbus A330, one of the most trusted airliners in history. It may not look like anything particularly special from the outside, but once you see the inside of it, you will absolutely be blown away by both its beauty and its ability to become virtually anything that you could ever imagine.

Not Your Everyday Jet

There’s no question about it, this is definitely not your everyday jet. As a matter of fact, stepping inside that jet feels more like stepping onto the Starship Enterprise than anything else. As a matter of fact, the jet can be customized to fit each individual’s needs. It can even be configured to sleep 12 people or up to 47 if needed. There is a large working area and an office complete with a bedroom suite and a full bathroom at the front of the jet, and a larger room in the middle that can be used for meetings or other group settings. Perhaps one of the more interesting things here is that you can go over to a touch screen located on the side of the interior and change the entire atmosphere with the push of a single button. That’s because the walls and the roof line of the jet change based on the optics that have been programmed into it. You can push a button and make it appear like you’re looking at either blue sky or the stars. On the other hand, you can turn it into a pulsating multicolored discotheque or even make it look like stingrays and whales are floating by you in a deep sea adventure that only you and the people with you get the chance to experience. If that’s not enough to get your attention, the jet even has a fold-out balcony that sits roughly 16 feet off the ground. Whenever the jet is sitting on the runway, you can fold the balcony out and enjoy the view. If you so desire, you can even move a couple of chairs and a small table out there to further enhance the ambiance.

Luxury Meets Practicality

There’s no doubt about it, this jet is the epitome of luxury in every way possible. That said, it also is designed in such a way that it can be fairly practical. For example, there is a special area at the back of the jet which is closed off by a bulkhead and can be used for various needs. It can even be turned into a gymnasium if you’re in the mood to stay fit while you’re traveling. On the other hand, you might need it for something a little more urgent, like a hospital room. That’s right, the entire back of the jet can be converted into a large hospital room that provides all of the same types of equipment as any other modern-day hospital. If you’re fortunate enough to be traveling with a doctor on board, the jet itself can serve as its own moving hospital. This makes it perfect for circumstances that require traveling between one location and another to pick someone up for a medical flight. It also makes the jet more useful if you are an individual with certain medical needs, yet you also have the need ( or the desire) to travel on an InterContinental basis regularly.

As you can see, this is a jet that is unlike anything else that has ever been approached in the past. Many people have even commented that it’s more like a superyacht that just happens to have wings as opposed to something that travels on the water. That is a comment that would indeed be very correct. There is nothing average about this jet. If it weren’t for the need to land and refuel every so often, it’s something that you could simply live on full-time and enjoy every creature comfort known to mankind, in much the same way that you would do on a yacht or in a luxury home. The only difference is that this jet can get you from one country to another in a matter of hours.
