The Five Most Reliable Car Brands in 2019

Buying a vehicle is about much more than just looks. Sure, you want the car that you drive to look great, but you need it to be reliable as well. When it comes to cars and trucks, it is not always the most expensive model that will suit you the best. In fact, you have to look at a variety of factors when it comes to overall value. Some of the most reliable vehicles will actually have an average price tag much lower than many of your high-end models that tend to require more maintenance. It is a delicate balancing act to decide on the exact made and model that best suits the needs of you and your family. With that in mind, consider the following list of five of the most reliable car brands on the market in 2019 as reported by Consumer Reports.

Kia

Kia has slowly been making its way up the reliability rankings in recent years, and now has broken into the top five. There is a good reason for this. It has a number of vehicles that are tops in their respective classes. The Kia Sedona is one such example. Two other vehicles that really move Kia up in the rankings would be the Optima and the Sorento. The Optima is a midsize sedan that has become a popular seller in the United States. The Sorento is a crossover vehicle that has proven to be quite the workhorse.

Subaru

Subaru makes a versatile line of vehicles that have long had a sizable following in the United States. In 2018, they ranked sixth on the reliability scale. Now, they have moved put to fifth for 2019. Some of their more reliable brands are the Crosstrek, Outback, and Forester. Subaru has also recently released the Ascent and is has already impressed owners with its sense of reliability. It is fair to note that the WRX has received some bad feedback in terms of reliability, but that is the only model produced by Subaru to do so.

Mazda

Mazda continues to impress car owners when it comes to reliability. In 2018, the manufacturer actually ranked 12th on this list. Now, it moves up to third place. This is mostly due to the MX-5 Miata. As a sports car, this model is rated as one of the most reliable in the business. You add that to the CX-5 crossover, which is one of the top ranked SUVs in its class, and it is easy to see why Mazda has moved up so many places in just a year.

Toyota

When it comes to reliability, it seems that Toyota is almost always mentioned at or near the top. 2019 is no exception. This is one manufacturer that seems to know how to turn out reliable cars, trucks, and SUVs on a consistent basis. The Prius family is the latest addition to the Toyota product line to get rave reviews from its owners. They have also recently introduced the plug-in Prime, which is a small and economical vehicle that requires minimal maintenance. Toyota is known for introducing fuel-efficient vehicles into the mix in recent years, and that trend is like to continue.

Lexus

Lexus takes first place and for a good reason. They have been at the top of the rankings for several years now. Lexus owners seem to be the most satisfied overall with their purchase. Not only is this the highest ranking for a luxury car manufacturer, but it beats out traditional models from Honda and Nissan as well. All Lexus vehicles in 2019 score above average in terms of reliability. You cannot go wrong with that.

Do any of these models surprise you for being on this list? What other models do you think should be added? Keep in mind that these are the five most reliable car models as reported by consumers themselves. That is the most accurate picture you can hope for as to which vehicles will stand up to regular use. You want a vehicle that you can trust to get you safely where you need to be. You also do not want to be continually looking at a repair bill every other month. Cars on this list should do you well.
