A Preview of the 2019 Mercees-Benz CLS

Mercedes-Benz is a trendsetter in the automotive industry and it bears a name that packs some weight. They launched their popular fastback sedan a decade ago and it’s a model that caught on famously with drivers. The first CLS offered loyal patrons the attractiveness in stylish luxury that created a new favorite, and the automaker carried it forth, now in the next generation for 2019, which was just unveiled at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show in California. They’ve given the world a preview of what’s to come with the third generation Mercedes-Benz CLS and if you missed it, here is what you have to look forward to.

Sensual aesthetics

The automaker embraces the philosophy of forward progression in the evolution of design. Mercedes-Benz maintains this purity with a sensual design that stimulates the senses at first glance. The three-dimensional surfaces with soft sculpting create the smoothness that carry your eyes over the body of the CLS, for an easy on the eyes experience. Designers dispensed with complicated graphics or harsh creases and opted for a more sensual approach, giving the vehicle a character that is all its own.

The next step in evolution

It begins with the rounded grille with a flowing Panamericana design that has become a signature of the company, moving they eyes upwards into the hood without interference from extraneous distractions. Low-set headlights feature a wide design adding balance to the overall fluid appearance. The exterior exudes luxury and refinement, but it comes with a hint of a naughty side as we move to the design of the sides and the rear end regions.

A touch of sportiness carried forth

Our focus then moves to the sporty new side design that incorporates frameless side windows atop an arching midriff that we’ve seen in previous generations of the CLS. The powerful rear shoulder is consistent with the previous two generations, preserving the smooth blending of the sporty elements of the side into a flat rear end, as it should be. The elements of charm, charisma and understated elegance combine with a powerful sexiness that completes the overall look of the new 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS.

What’s new with the 2019 CLS

We see the advancement of the new generation in the design of the interior. You immediately notice the digital dash and turbine style air vents. Dual screens for the infotainment system and the instrument cluster, are housed inside a glass pane which is reminiscent of the more recent S Class Mercedes, but offers just a little more with regards to aesthetics. Luxurious comfort and style are a constant and while the interior will feature a more modernized look, there will be no sacrifice of comfort and convenience. Don’t expect any changes in leg room one way or the other.

Your options at launch

The first of the new CLS models to hit the available market will be the CLS 450. You’ll have a few different options in drive train. An all-wheel drive, or rear wheel drive will be available, with your choice of the new 3.0 liter turbocharged engine. It’s an inline-6 featuring 48 volt hybrid capability. The combustible engine generates 369 pound feet of torque and 362 horsepower. The addition of the motor generator gives you a boost of 184 pound feet on the torque and an extra 21 in horse power. While it’s not quite clear when the addition will be made, Mercedes is throwing in a new speed adaptation system that is route based It’s scheduled to be available on the 2019 edition of the CLS. The system offers an automatic adjustment of the speed of the vehicle to accommodate a variety of changing road conditions including corners, speed bumps, toll booths, exits, bends in the road, junctions, round about and other changes in the driving route. This smart technology makes adjustments both upwards and downwards.

Availability and pricing

The 2019 CLS is on track for release into showrooms sometime in the Fall of 2018. Production is in process of the highly anticipated fast back sedan that has satisfied the driving requirements of patrons for the past decade. With just enough upgrades, the new generation is built to please in looks, performance and comfort. Pricing has not yet been announced for the 2019 CLS, but is expected to become available as we draw nearer to the launch of the new model.
