Your actual range will be limited by several factors including, but not limited to: terrain, weather conditions, electromagnetic interference and obstructions.

1. You have to take the belt clip off, unscrew two screws... to replace/install the batteries. That's a challenge, as the instructions are not clear on how to take off the belt clip and if you've never done it before... PRESS tab AWAY from the unit, AND push up on the clip at same time. 2. These things are only waterproof IF you've tightly reinstalled the battery cover door, and have securely pushed in the rubber charge and earbud covers. All must be secure, or water will get inside. You cannot be charging or be using earbuds/headphones and have the unit be waterproof. Read the instructions. Don't give this to your earbud-glued kid for a surf/boating toy and expect it to work for long. 3. The T600 will do a LOT of neat things, and might be a bit overwhelming for non-techie users. I don't use walkie talkies... but was able to set these up, program the correct NOAA channel, and both (dual channels) Hi and a Lo channel. Easy set up ... again READ the instructions. 4. The Screws on the battery cover are a wide/thick slot - try a coin if you don't happen to carry a big flat head screwdriver. 5. The LED flashlight is pretty useful, and like the red (for nighttime) toggle option. 6. Complaint: These are big, thick (not heavy) handheld devices - those of us with small hands/fingers... you cannot wrap your hand around them. In fact, these are so big in my hands, that I cannot hold them securely, without the danger of dropping them - had to take the belt clip off, and they are still too big. These are made for big hands (did a guy design these or what?) Surely with today's technologies... they don't have to be that big!
Wish List: wish there was an outboard battery charger for the 3.6 volt, 800 mAH recharg. batteries. Having to charge them IN the unit is not convenient or easy if you're out on the boat, in the woods, etc. HAVE to use regular AA batteries (3) at that point. However, I found the AAs (using Duracell Procells) to last quite a bit longer than a fully charged 3.6 volt rechargeable. If battery life is a priority for you, ditch the rechargables and use regular (3) AAs - if ecology is a priority, use the rechargeables. I happen to like the rechargeables, and have read up on how best to charge them to maintain their life as long as possible. The slight bit of extra effort is worth it.
Lastly, a couple of reviewers mentioned not being able to hear... sounding muffled. Well, if you've got water in the speaker area, that will muffle them until it dries out. OR if the pressure changes... say you change altitudes or are in a hurricane ... lol. Yes, it can and will happen because these are watertight. Sealed very well. Simply open the battery compartment door... that will equalize the pressure - likely fix your issue. As the hurricane approached, we made sure to do that. We had no problems. Again, overall these are super walkie talkies. They work like walkie talkies should (they are not cell phones... ) and the few inconveniences, as noted above, are mostly personal quirks of mine. Super product - 5 stars.
Good range
Clear sound
Water-proof
LED flashlight in bright white or red
Multiple power source (supplied battery pack, AAs or rechargeable AAs.)
Floats though only with the lighter weight supplied battery pack
Micro-USB charging port
Cons:
Charger will only charge the supplied battery pack. The supplied charger will not charge the AAs that I installed.
Not repeater capable.
Belt clip whistle is weak. I can whistle louder.
Antenna is pokey. Wish it is built into the body, foldable or detachable for packing.
No hand strap nor a lug to attach a hand strap, a shoulder strap or floating strap.
Headphone jack uses proprietary plug.
During a cruise, I was able to talk from inside the stateroom on the 5th deck to inside the 12th deck buffet. That is amazing given that both radios were inside steel cages. Around the suburb it is about 1 mile. Not too bad and better than most other competitors in this class or price range.
Supplied battery pack lasted about 24 hours on standby with very little use. Not bad. On "battery management" - the battery takes ~8 hours to charge and the radio must be turned off during charging. That is all good when you can shut them down and charge them overnight. There are occasions when one had to leave them on for standby between 2 sites.
It is quite powerful and feature rich for such a small package. But of course we like it smaller and lighter still. Perhaps an even shorter antenna or a built in antenna.
Wish list:
Allow charging of installed AAs
Make it repeater capable
Lower profile - built in antenna, foldable or detachable antenna.
FM radio as in some other models
Belt clip case
Better whistle
Belt clip whistle that can be used as screw driver to open the battery compartment
A lug for hand strap or float strap
Use the common 3.5mm headphone jack
Replaceable face plates - florescent green, camouflage or black.
They lose a star because the supplied rechargeable battery life is abismal. When transmitting on high power you get a few hours battery life with light amounts of talking, and it only gets worse the more you use them.
These GMRS/FRS radios also lack the ability to use repeaters which is a major drawback, however, they are marketed towards "normal people" and not "radio dorks" as a popular GMRS YouTuber would put it, so this is acceptable.
If you're looking for radios to talk between friends and family that are less than a mile of separation these are a good buy.
These are FRS radios after all, They are limited to a maximum power of 2 watts. I looked up the FCC ID and the max power of these radios are 750 Milliwatts on high, a little disappointing. Also, be aware that the FCC changed the rules regarding FRS (Unlicensed use) and GMRS (Licensed use) in September of 2017 so that these radios are classified under FRS. (They fit under the criteria for FRS use according to the FCC website)
These radios are one of my favorites out of the different FRS radios I own. The mix of useful features and being waterproof make these radios a good fit for anything outdoors and anything in between.

I needed these where I could use for my son and I to communicate on our property. It's only about 1 acre of area where I want to reach (at most) but we tested them in our neighborhood to see our far they would go without breaking up. Given the reviews about the static in between houses being poor I thought there was no way it would work in our neighborhood, outside of our yard. We went approximately 1 km and I could hear my son with some minor static, here and there. Im sure we could have went further. We took one to our neighbour's home and could hear eachother perfectly in all areas of their 2 story home and separate garage. These walkie talkies are exceptional in my opinion and for what we need them for which is basic. We don't hike or anything. Haven't taken them on the kayaks but I have no doubt they will work great there as well. Clear and super easy to use. My son is 8 years old and has fun with them too. Highly recommend if you need a good set that goes the distance. Very happy! I can't comment on the battery life because we don't use them for long periods but will watch out for that and come back to review later.
*we haven't had any issues with water but we do take them on our boat and around our dock but we haven't dropped them. I have read that they can be submerged but I have yet to experience that. Will come back if and when I have a review to provide.
It's better if it come with the ear piece and with the holder.
Pros:
1. Water proof (safe to drop in water or have submerged in shallow water). Was one of the most important features to have for us since we plan to use our walkie talkies outside in wet environments. With these, we don't have to worry about the kids dropping them in water or ruining them if they play with them in wet environments
2. Floats in water (ease of mind)
3. Able to run on both rechargeable batteries that it comes with as well as 3 AA batteries (battery life is far superior when using AA batteries). Many walkie talkies limit you to only being able to use the reachable ones that they come with. We love the feature to use AA batteries!
4. Neon green colour (makes it extremely easy to find when dropped in leaves, grass, sand, etc. The colour may be a negative to some)
5. Emergency mode feature on this walkie talkies is great. When the emergency button is pressed and held for a few seconds, the other walkie talkie will emit a very loud and obnoxious alarm noise, begin to start flashing a red light, and begin an open line of communication to the other walkie talkie. This allows the person who presses the emergency button to be able to talk to and be heard by the other walkie talkie without having to press and hold the talk button on their walkie talkie. Alarm sound, red light flashing and open line of communication last about 20 seconds from the time it is triggered. Once the emergency mode has been triggered, it cannot be shut off. You have to wait the 20 seconds for it to finish. This is a cool safety feature to have in an emergency situation where one party needs immediate help.
6. Call Button Feature. Allows you to cause the other walkie talkie to emit a loud ringtone noise (similar to a phone ringing). This is great for when one party has their walkie talkie near by but perhaps too far away to hear you speaking through the walkie talkie. Pressing the call button before speaking will help you get the attention of the other party.
7. Built in flashlight. By no means a great overall flashlight but it is great for what it is. Which is a back up light to have in case of an emergency. I wouldn't relay solely on the built in flashlight to go for a night hike or anything like that but it is a great feature and extra piece of gear to have in case of an emergency or for use during smaller and less important tasks such as finding something in your tent, car, campsite, etc. There is a red light and a white led light feature (I am not entirely sure how many lumens the light is but I would guess that the white light is somewhere around 50 lumens)
8. Removable belt clip that has a built in whistle
9. The walkie talkie has an area on the back where the belt clip connects to that can also be used to easily tie some string/para cord/rope/etc to the walkie talkie. Some may not care about this and or may never tie string to their walkie talkie but it is worth mentioning because some people may value being able to hang their walkie talkie around their neck like a necklace, or may value being able to safely tie their walkie talking to something like their backpack for example.
Cons:
1. 1km Communication Distance. In city, residential and suburban type areas that have lots of houses, buildings and structures, these walkie talkies really only work well from within 1 km of each other. After 1 km we began to notice a lot of static that made clear communication an issue. After about 1.5 kms away, the other party began to cut off and on to the point where it was nearly impossible to understand what they were saying. I would say anything within 1km is perfectly clear. After 1km though, the reception quality gets worse and worse until the point of complete connection failure. Which for us, happened when we were around 1.5 km away from the other walkie talkie and party we were communicating with.
2. Price. I paid $144.62 cad for 2 of these walkie talkies in May 2020. This seems expensive to me for walkie talkies that only have a 1km talking distance. I love almost everything else about them though.
3. Weather Stations do not seem to work for me as they are extremely staticky with very little if any audio. I live in a major Canadian city for reference
