S-Series Soundsystem: Better than Bose?

Nothing ruins a movie, television show, or party like a poor sound system. Listening to the tinny speakers built into a television can leave much to be desired. This means that in order to achieve a full and crisp sound, extra speakers must be used. Unfortunately, speakers can turn a home entertainment system into a tangled mess of wires.

Bluetooth speakers are one solution to this issue because they can connect without wires. However, these speakers are often defined by poor sound quality and limited range. This makes it difficult to have a true surround sound system.

The S-Series speakers from Damson solve the issue of crowded wires while maintaining high quality sound. As well, they feature a much greater range, allowing speakers throughout the house to be connected to a single source. By improving the range of the wireless connectivity while maintaining the sound quality, the S-Series speakers provide a versatile and customizable home sound system.

Damson

The company behind the S-Series speakers is Damson, one of the industry leaders in creating innovative sound systems. They have created cutting edge speakers, as well as headphones and virtual reality devices.

The company was founded in 2011 out of a desire for speakers that had great sound and wireless capability. Current speakers were unsatisfying to Damson’s founders, so they created the company to produce products that did not sacrifice sound quality and a pleasing design for Bluetooth connectivity.

The company has won numerous awards, including UKTI’s Tech Start-up of the Year in 2012, and York Press Award’s Technology Business of the Year in 2014.

James Talbot is the CEO of Damson. He has previously founded other projects like AuraVisor, a virtual reality project. He has a wealth of experience in the industry, and studied at the University of London.

Timeline

A great deal of time and effort has gone into producing the best possible design and technology for the S-Series speakers. This began back in late 2013 and early 2014, when the initial idea for the speakers was developed.

The first prototypes were developed in October of 2014. Improvements were made until June, 2015, when the second stage of prototypes were built. From February to June of 2016, the wireless technology was refined and perfected. Finally, in September, the final prototype and testing was completed.

The Indiegogo campaign was launched in October and will raise funds into November. In December, the speakers will be delivered.

Despite only setting a $40 000 goal, the Indiegogo page has already raised over $39 000 with almost 50 backers.

The Speakers

The S-Series speakers are designed to be a versatile sound system. They can range from a single, personal speaker to a party system with several speakers on each floor of the house. There is no app required to control the speakers, making it simple to plug them in and listen to great sound. They take advantage of Damson’s JetStreamNet technology to wirelessly connect up to eight speakers to a single source.

S-Cube

The S-Cube is a small, portable Bluetooth speaker. It features a sleek, modern look that will look great whether as a part of a home sound system or as a personal speaker. With its Lithium Ion battery, the speaker can provide excellent sound on the go.

It boasts an output of 18 Watts for clear sound. It can be charged with a Type C USB, and also features an aux port.

S-Bar and S-Woofer

The heart of the S-Series home speaker system are the S-Bar and S-Woofer, which come as a pair. The two feature the same modern design as the S-Cube, and are far more compact than traditional woofers. Their wireless capability allows up to 8 speakers to connect, which allows the entertainment system to be free from tangled wires.

They feature surround sound support for Dolby, THX, and DTS, and together boast an output of 58 watts. The S-Woofer has inputs for HDMI, aux, and RCA. They are supported by AC power supply.

Features

Although these speakers offer excellent sound, they stand out from the competition for their convenient features.

Firstly, wireless connectivity for up to 8 speakers means buyers can customize their entertainment experience. S-Cubes can be used as portable speakers, the S-Bar and S-Woofer can be paired with one or two S-Cubes for a smaller, more intimate sound experience, or the entire house can be filled with sound from 8 S-Cubes. With an incredible 150-meter range, these speakers will connect through walls and floors, making them ideal for parties and surround sound.

As well, they free up a great deal of room because there are no wires required to connect the speakers to the S-Bar. The S-Woofer is also far more compact than most subwoofers on the market. While some may fear that a surround sound system would require large, bulky speakers, the S-Series speakers are small, sleek, and attractive.

Finally, these speakers are designed with the user in mind. They are able to easily connect to services like Netflix, Pandora, Spotify, and Tidal. Just about every buyer will love the ease with which these speakers connect to their favorite movies, shows, and music.

Battery

The S-Bar and S-Woofer are powered by AC power supply, and the S-Cubes can be as well. The S-Cubes also feature Lithium Ion batteries which are charged through Type C USB ports. A single charge will provide 8 hours of battery life.

Price

The Indiegogo campaign features a range of great deals for early buyers of S-Series speakers. Standalone S-Cubes can be purchased for $99, while a more comprehensive package of an S-Woofer, S-Bar, and 4 S-Cubes goes for $699. Although the speakers cost a fair amount of money, similar packages are far more expensive from their competitors.

With the technology, design, and ease of use considered, the S-Series sound system is fantastic value for its price. Anyone who appreciates crisp and clean surround sound will adore these speakers.
