Additionally, you have the ability to transfer point on a 1:1 basis to be used on most of the top airline’s loyalty programs. You can receive as much as 25 percent more value when you redeem loyalty reward for travel when you redeem them through Chase Ultimate Rewards. There is no introductory annual fee for the first year that you own the card.

The benefits that standout for this card is:

  • One point for every dollar spent
  • Zero introductory annual fees for the first year (Note: after the first year, the annual fee will be $95)
  • No foreign transaction fees

While the $95 annual fee is somewhat pricey, you have the ability to earn that back through the rewards program.

2. HSBC Platinum Mastercard

This card will best benefit those who are not frequent spenders but desired to participate in rewards programs when they do spend. The great thing about this card is that there is no annual fee. Additionally, you don’t have to have a Premier or Advance checking to qualify for it. When you spend $500, you will earn 15,000 reward point with a value of $150 — for purchase made in the first 90 days that you own the card.

  • 15,000 reward points ($150 value) when you spend $500 in the first 90 days
  • Earn one point for every dollar spent
  • No annual fee
  • Redeem points for cash or choose from other rewards options.

In order to qualify for this card, you will need to open an Advance checking account if you don’t already have one.

The only drawback associated with this card is the requirement to have an Advance checking account.
