What are some of the best places to visit whenever you’re in Shanghai? Clearly, you might need some help figuring out the best areas to visit because Shanghai is large enough that it could take you an exceptionally long time to visit everything if you don’t know where to go first. 1. Yu Garden

This is a beautiful garden that spans a full five acres and features everything you can possibly imagine, from individual rock gardens to ponds and plenty of places to sit and relax. 3. The Bund

This is definitely one of the more interesting areas in all of Shanghai. It’s quite long and offers a great waterside view of some of the most impressive Colonial architecture in the entire country. These buildings have been there for centuries and they’re both imposing and majestic, all at the same time.

4. Nanjing Road

This is the place you want to go if you’re in the mood to do some shopping. In fact, it’s considered the main shopping area of the entire country and there are shops of all kinds located within walking distance of each other.

5. Shanghai Disney Resort

Maybe you’re in the mood to visit a Disney Resort. If you are, you can do that while you’re in Shanghai as well. Some people think this is one of the best things to come along since sliced bread and others would far prefer to see the sites that are native to the region. In the end, that’s up to you.

6. Jin Mao Tower

This is a modern-day skyscraper that stretches almost 90 stories into the sky. Inside, you’ll find one of the most luxurious hotels in the entire country, along with fine dining opportunities. There are some gift shops and of course, an observation deck.

7. Shanghai World Financial Center

This is designed to be something like the original World Trade Center in the United States was. It has 101 floors and even though there is plenty of business being conducted at any given time, there are also shops and restaurants that tourists can enjoy. If you’re interested in seeing what the city looks like from 100 stories up, all you need to do is go to the observation deck in this building. Of course, there’s also a hotel there.

8. Shanghai Museum

The museum specializes in sculptures and paintings, as well as virtually anything that contains jade or bronze. It doesn’t cost anything to get inside, and it’s a great way to learn more about the important culture and history of the area.

9. Tianzifang

This area actually used to be part of France and when you walk into it, it’s distinctly different from everything else in the area. The small cobblestone streets tell you that you’re in a location that was built many decades ago. The area still holds true to its old world charm, and it’s chock-full of unique shops and restaurants that are run by individuals. If you’re looking for a slower pace, this is a great place to start.

10. People’s Square

Here, you will find the aforementioned Shanghai Museum, but you’ll also find virtually everything else that you might want to do in a single day. From restaurants to shops and everything in between, this is a great place to get a feel for Shanghai and its people.
