The Top Five Big Company CEOs of 2016

Every company needs a CEO. This is the person who runs the company and makes the big business decisions. Some CEO’s had a great year in 2016, while some did pretty well. There are some CEO’s who lost their position in the company for a variety of reasons. Below is a list of the CEO’s who have had great years. Some of the people on this list have held this leadership position for many years, while others are relatively new to the business but they still had a pretty good year in 2016.  Here are the top CEOs for some of the world’s larger companies.

Bernard Arnault

Bernard Arnault is one of the world’s busiest and best CEO’s. He oversees an empire of over 70 very popular brands. Some of the most well known include Sephora, Dom Perignon, Louis Vuitton, and Tag Heuer. He also oversees over 3,700 retail stores. He has been running the show since 1989. Although he is the head of these major companies, the bulk of his fortune is tied up in Christian Dior stock. He also has the controlling interest in LVMH. The shareholder of the companies that Bernard oversees is dreading the day that he steps down and retires. They aren’t sure they will be able to find someone with the same golden touch that Bernard has to take over one day.

Currently, he has an estimated net worth of $40.1 billion. He is currently living in France and he holds citizenship there. He is married with 5 children. In 2016, he was listed at number 14 on Forbes list of Billionaires. He is listed at number 2 in France. Also, he was ranked at number 55 in Forbes 2015 list of most powerful people.

Jeffrey Bezos

Jeff Bezos has been the CEO of Amazon since 1994. Over the past 14 months, he added $20 billion to his net worth. This is the largest amount of anyone in the world. With Jeffrey at the helm, Amazon became the fastest growing company ever and it reached $100 million in annual sales. This is partly due to the company’s cloud-computing unit. Amazon sells just about every item that you can imagine. They have teamed up with a variety of other companies to help improve your shopping experience. With new shipping facilities opening up all the time, getting your Amazon packages has become faster and easier. He currently lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife and four children. In 2016, Forbes listed him at number 14 in their most powerful people category. He was also listed at number 2 in the Richest in Tech category and number 5 in the Billionaires category and number 3 in the United States. At 52 years old, he is a self-made billionaire, with an estimated net worth of $67 billion.

Carlos Brito

Carlos Brito has been the CEO of Anheuser-Busch since 2005. He is the leader of the biggest beer company in the world. Unlike many of the CEO’s of major companies, he prefers to wear jeans and a button up shirt to work every day. Carlos says that his company doesn’t have a private jet and he doesn’t even have an office. He sits at a table with his Vice President by his side. Last year, the company brought in an estimated $19.6 billion. Carlos is originally from Brazil and moved the United States with a dream to be the head of a major corporation. His dreams came true in 2005 when he was appointed CEO. Since then, he has worked very hard to get the company to the place that it is today, which is incredibly successful and still growing. He brings home an annual salary that is estimated at $2.2 million.

Reed Hastings

Reed Hastings has been the CEO of Netflix since 1997. He is also the co-founder. He completely changed the way that people watch television and movies. Before Netflix, people had to go to their local video store to rent a movie and then return it after. If they wanted to binge watch their favorite television series, they had to wait until the new season was available on DVD in the stores and they had to buy it. When Netflix first started, DVD’s were sent to the home. Today, you can stream the movies and the television shows that you like to watch. This is all due in part to Reed. He currently lives in Santa Cruz, California with his wife and four children. He is a self-made billionaire with an estimated net worth of $1.6 billion. He may have put video stores such as Blockbuster and Major Video out of business, however, he made watching television easier and more convenient for people all around the world.

Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg has been the CEO of Facebook since 2004. Like Reed Hastings, he has changed the world forever. He changed social media forever. In the beginning, Facebook was open to college students only. You had to have a .edu email address in order to sign up for the site. Today, people young and old are using the site. It is also available in all over the world. Many companies, including major ones, are using Facebook to advertise their products and get their name out to the public. Since its inception in 2004, Facebook has grown and it has changed for the better.

Gone are the days that you had to wait until your high school reunion to find out what you classmates are doing. Most people are friends with their entire graduating class on Facebook and they can read their postings each day to see what they are up to. There are so many ways that Facebook has changed our daily lives, there are too many to list. Currently, Mark has a net worth of $49.6 billion. The future of Facebook is bright and only time will tell how much further it will grow.

Being the CEO of a major company is a lot of work. Most of the men on this list spend 18 to 20 hours each day in the office trying to help the companies that they are in charge of to grow and make money. Many of these men started their companies and turned them into billion dollar empires.
