What We Know About the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur

British luxury automaker, Bentley, has updated its sporty yet luxurious Flying Spur model but the automaker has kept the latest model under a veil of secrecy. Spies in the industry have seen glimpses of the newest Bentley Flying Spur as it’s tested in the summer of 2017 and this winter. The Bentley Flying Spur may make its debut in late 2018 or early 2019. Some think the car may be unveiled at this year’s Geneva International Motor Show.

Bentley Flying Spur

With its iconic logo and reputation of powerful yet luxurious and sophisticated cars, Bentley Motors has been headquartered in Crewe, England since its founding in the early twentieth century. The automobile company quickly became known when its cars won the 24 Hours of Le Mans auto race in four times during the 1920’s and in 1930. The automobile company also won the famous automobile race in 2003. In the world of auto sports racing, Bentley is well known for its Bentley 4 1/2 liter and Speed 6 models. Its R Type Continental, Turbo R and Arnage have also performed well. Most recently, Bentley’s Continental Flying Spur, Continental GT, Bentayga and Mulsanne have proven to be powerful sport cars.

Bentley debuted the Continental Flying Spur in 2006, its first new model after the Volkswagen Group acquired the brand. The first Flying Spur model was basically a four door version of the Continental GT although with longer and wider with plenty of room for rear seating. The Spur was based on the Continental GT and was revamped in 2014. The 2014 model featured a twin turbo 6 liter W12 engine with 616 horsepower. The all wheel drive was rear biased. The car was luxurious, sophisticated and powerful. It also carried better fuel economy than prior models.

After half a decade, Bentley decided to revamp its classic Flying Spur. While holding onto the original Continental GT features, the updated model is expected to feature attributes of the Audi and the Porsche. Although Bentley has veiled the 2020 Flying Spur in secrecy, auto enthusiasts have gotten brief glimpses at the new model. It is clear that the Bentley 2020 Flying Spur will be technically advanced, more powerful and more luxurious than the past models.

Exterior Features

Although the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur has been camouflaged, those who have seen the car have speculated what the car actually looks like. Most likely, the body of the 2020 Spur is based on the Continental GT. It looks like the latest Flying Spur model is a four door sedan. It features a quad headlamp design. The grille appears to be a broader. The bumper looks sportier than the last model. The rear stop is more muscular looking and seems to feature a rectangular taillight which looks longer and leaner than in the past. The model features a long deck lid, raked D pillars and an imposing fender. The engine hood is toned.

Power

Underneath the bonnet, the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur is certain to hold a powerful engine. Speculations are that the engine will be similar to the Porsche Panamera hybrid engine. The model may also have some Audi engine parts. The car will likely have a powerful diesel and gasoline engine. The four liter engine will most likely be a V8 with the possibility of upgrades. It is anticipated that the engine will be at least 500 horsepower.

Interior Features

One can only guess what the interior features of the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur will offer, but it is certain to be luxurious. Bentley spares no expense in offering the most sophisticated and refined interior features in its automobiles. The Flying Spur is sure to offer several choices in leather hide and fine paneling with sophisticated accents.

Word has it, the interior features of the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur will be based on Porsche. Most likely the seating will be fine leather available in several colors with diamond quilting. The seating will feature comparison colored stitching. The refined stitching will be continued on the leather steering wheel. Certainly the paneling within the 2020 Flying Spur will be of fine quality and sophisticated molding. Guesses are the latest Flying Spur model will feature a refrigerated compartment in the rear mid seat back.
