What You Need to Know about the Lufthansa Miles and More Program

If you enjoy air travel, you already know the one of the best ways to fly without spending a small fortune is to become part of a rewards program that will give you some deep discounts on your airplane tickets. In some cases, you might even be able to get tickets without spending hardly anything at all. That being said, all rewards programs are definitely not created equally. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of so-called rewards programs out there that really don’t do much of anything at all. If you were to get any benefit from them, it would only be because you spent so much money that you could have flown halfway across the world and back for less money than what you have already spent trying to get those miles. Therefore, the key is in finding the right rewards program. In this particular case, you might want to know a little bit more about the Lufthansa Miles & More program, something that can really help you get the discounts you’ve been searching for.

There are a couple of different things that make this program rather unique. The first is that even though it’s sponsored by Lufthansa, it’s not supported exclusively by that airline alone. As a matter of fact, you can fly Lufthansa or a whole host of airlines that they have decided to work in conjunction with in this particular rewards program. This gives you more choices when it comes to flying to certain areas. This program is also the largest rewards program in all of Europe. At last count, it had well over 25 million people that participated in it. If you really stop and think about it, you know that that many people can’t be wrong, so that fact in and of itself is enough to make you want to take closer look. In addition, the program offers several different levels so that depending on your status within the program itself, you have the opportunity to graduate to bigger and better benefits as you go along.

What does all this mean for you as an airline passenger? Basically, it means that you get more rewards miles with this program than you’re likely to get with most others. For example, if you’re flying on a domestic flight, you can get up to 1,000 miles in rewards, even when you’re booking in economy class. That’s practically unheard of, as most airlines don’t offer any type of rewards for flying in economy class. It expands from there depending on the class that you’re flying in and the distance of the flight itself. For instance, a flight booked in business class on an intercontinental trip can get you up to 2,000 miles and if you’re flying first class on that same intercontinental flight, you can get the distance of the mileage flown plus another 300 percent in rewards. As you can see, it won’t take very long to rack up the rewards so that before you know it, you’re not spending a single dime on tickets.

As previously mentioned, Lufthansa’s rewards program has a basic level where you’re getting rewards for buying tickets and flying miles. In addition, you get rewards for anything that you purchase from their website or any business that’s affiliated with them. You can also get additional rewards for flying on selected flights, loyalty rewards points, and a whole host of additional points if you frequently book flights in either business or first class on a number of their international flights.

When you think about all of this, it’s no wonder that so many people have signed up to become members of their rewards program. With most programs, it takes years to build up enough points to pay for a single trip. When it comes to the rewards program operated by Lufthansa, it’s likely for you to average about every third to fifth flight for free, depending on the flights that you book and the distances that you fly. Of course, there are also extra perks involved such as special promotions and at times, even special attention paid to their first class customers. If you frequently fly anywhere in Europe, you would be doing well for yourself to go ahead and become a member of this rewards program and start reaping the benefits.
