YouTube Videos on a Budget: The Cheapest Equipment Ever

Is it possible to create YouTube videos on a budget? Do you need an expensive camera to build a platform with a huge number of followers? How to save on YouTube equipment? You can always hear these types of questions from people who only think of starting their own YouTube channel.

So, is it possible to create a successful YouTube channel with the best vlogging camera under 100 together with the cheapest microphone and lights when the competition is so strong? Do you need additional equipment to vlog on a daily basis?

Vlogging on a Budget

The cheapest setup doesn’t always mean the quality of the videos is going to be the lowest. In fact, you can create a professionally made picture even with a camera under 100$. You just have to know what equipment to pick and how to use it properly to achieve those wonderful results.

It can be a challenge for a beginner blogger to set up a so-called YouTube studio under a couple of hundred dollars only. Today, we’ll try to do it with you to get the video footage, which is difficult to distinguish from the one created with the expensive equipment only.

  • Camera. A cheap camera also can be a qualitative one. Pay attention to Sony DSC W800 or Canon SL2 if you’re planning on creating «talking to camera» videos or not very expensive action camera like GoPro Hero for filming on the go. These cameras are small, light, and most of them have an autofocus, which is an important feature too.
  • External microphone. You still can get an external microphone, even if your camera has an inbuilt one. It is quite easy to find this piece of vlogging setup on a budget. Check Lavalier Microphone or Takstar Microphone.
  • Tripod. You need a mini version of a tripod even if you’re filming on the go. It helps in holding the camera. If you film at home, a tripod is an essential piece too. Check Amazon or similar websites for the cheapest tripods. The prices start from a couple of dollars only. For example, Ravelli Tripod or Zomei Tripod. Pay attention to the price and the weight of a microphone. Don’t pick too heavy models if you’re planning to film outside. Your choice depends on how tall you are if you want to shoot some standing videos. So, keep it in mind when buying one.
  • Lights. Of course, if you film travel videos only, you don’t need professional lights. Travel vlogs look nice even with the natural lighting. For studio footage, you need lights to create a perfect picture faster and easier. Lighting can be quite an investment for a blogger. But don’t rush to buy something really expensive. Start with simple models to see how important it is for your videos particularly. Check lighting kits by Fancierstudio and Limostudio.

That’s all for making a YouTube studio on a budget. What else would you recommend for a beginner blogger with a small budget?
