How Much Does it Cost to Attend a New York Yankees Game?

If you're a New York Yankees fan, you might already be aware of how much it costs to attend a game. On the other hand, you may be a fan that's been transplanted to another state and haven't been to a game in years. In that case, you're probably wondering exactly how much it would cost if you decided you wanted to make the trip and go to a game. If you're a New Yorker, you won't be surprised that the cost is anything but cheap. After all, nothing is cheap in New York. That's something that any proud New Yorker has come to accept a long time ago. That being said, it's still a good idea to know how big of a hit your wallet is going to take before you actually jump in and start spending money. Below, you can get a better idea of the cost to attend a New York Yankees game.

Get Ready to Shell Out Some Serious Money for Tickets

Even if you pick the so-called cheap seats, it's still going to cost you more than $50 per person. In fact, it's not uncommon for these seats to cost at least $65 each. The cost only goes up from there. When it really comes right down to it, you can spend anywhere from $65 to more than $250 on a single seat. Obviously, this is not something that's going to be an economical trip. The truth is, if you want to watch a game at Yankee Stadium, you're going to have to be willing to set aside some serious cash in order to do it. Even if you choose a seat that's considered fair, even under the best of circumstances, it's still going to run you about $75.

Food is Expensive Too

Concessions are never cheap at any stadium, but that takes on a whole new meaning at Yankee Stadium. Imagine that you want to get a hot dog. Something that might cost you $6 at virtually any other stadium in the country is going to cost you at least double that amount here. The same is true for popcorn, soda or virtually anything else you might choose to order. If you're thinking that you can spend about $25 and get enough concessions to last you for the day, you might want to make it more like $50. Remember, that’s the cost for each person, so if you have a lot of people to feed or you're going in there really hungry, it could end up costing you a lot of money, to say the least.

Parking

Let's face it, if you're going to see a game at Yankee Stadium you should just forget about parking. It's almost impossible to drive or park in New York and if you're lucky enough to find a parking spot, you're going to pay a premium price in order to get it. For most people, it just isn't worth it. Instead of fighting with traffic all day long to the point that you're ready to tear your hair out, do yourself a favor and take public transportation or walk. It'll be much easier and when it's all said and done, it won't hit your bank account nearly as hard. If you absolutely insist on driving there and finding a parking spot, good luck. Be sure to bring about $40 in cash with you.

There you have it. If you spend $100 on a ticket, another $50 on concessions and then you make the decision to drive there, you can see how quickly this adds up. Even if you walk to the stadium, it's still a lot to ask someone to pay $150 to watch a ballgame. Nevertheless, that's the approximate cost that you're looking at if you want to watch the game on the New York Yankees home turf. If this is something you do once or twice in a season, you might even be able to justify it but it definitely doesn't work for a weekly or even a monthly outing unless you're making a great deal of money. That being said, it's definitely worth doing at least once. If nothing else, you'll be able to say that you went to Yankee Stadium and saw them play. That fact alone is worth a lot, especially for New Yorkers. Unless of course, you're a Mets fan. In that case, the very idea of setting foot in Yankee Stadium probably borders on sacrilegious.
