10 Things to Do in Bermuda for First Time Visitors

Located in the North Atlantic Ocean, Bermuda consists of 181 islands, many of which are low-forming volcanoes. The largest island is officially called Main Island but is often referred to as Bermuda. This is a beautiful and fascinating place to visit and tourists are attracted by both the culture and the subtropical climate. If you are planning your first visit to Bermuda, then here are ten things that you should try to do during your stay.

1. Stay in a Waterfront Hotel

Your choice of accommodation is an important element of any vacation. While in Bermuda, you should try to stay in a waterfront hotel so that you can wake up in the morning to views across the Atlantic Ocean. Bermuda has many beautiful spots and visiting these will also allow you to take advantage of the weather. Picturesque places to visit during your vacation include Harrington Sound, Blue Hole Park, Admiralty House Park, Spittal Pond Nature Reserve, and Bermuda Botanical Gardens.

6. Tour the Islands

Most people who visit Bermuda stay on Main Island, but there are 180 more islands that belong to this country and many of these are accessible by taking a short boat trip. Make the most of your stay in this beautiful part of the world by taking the time to visit several of the other islands. Some you might like to consider are St. David’s Island, Ireland Island, Somerset Island, and St. George’s Island.

8. Have a Day at the Aquarium

While many people like to admire marine life, not everyone wants to take to the waters themselves. An alternative is to visit the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum, and Zoo. If you have a particular fondness for dolphins, you might also like to visit Dolphin Quest.

9. Spend Time at the Galleries

One way to absorb the culture of Bermuda is to spend some time in the galleries there. This is a particularly interesting activity if you are passionate about the arts. The Bermuda National Gallery has a permanent exhibition of local and international art. It also has rotating exhibitions and sometimes hosts workshops. Other places to visit are the Lisa-Anne Rego Art Gallery and the Jon Faulkner Gallery, the latter of which has a paint-your-own pottery studio.

10. Relax on the Beach

Bermuda is a wonderful place to visit if the main focus of your vacation is relaxation and its stunning beaches are the perfect setting to while away the hours. There is an excellent choice of beaches the most famous of which is Horseshoe Bay which is ranked in the top ten beaches in the world. Other pretty beaches include Elbow Beach, Warwick Long Bay, Cambridge Beaches, Chaplin Bay, and Achilles’ Bay.
