The Top 10 Hotels Opening Around the World in 2019
Many unique hotels are opening around the world this year. Some are brand new while some will complete extensive renovations. Some are boutique hotels while some fit the latest trend of wellness retreats. It’s an exciting year for travel.
Miraval Austin
Miravel Austin will open this month in Austin, Texas. The all inclusive wellness resort sits on 220 acres of serene rolling hills overlooking Lake Travis. The resort firsts opened in 2003 and was bought by Hyatt Hotels last year and underwent a full renovation. The resort’s goal is for guests to find life balance and wellness in this beautiful tranquil setting. The resort features 117 guest rooms and suite each decorated in simple yet elegant spa-like style. Miravel features its signature restaurant, 2 infinity pools, Cypress Creek Farm and Ranch, and of course, a spa and body mindfulness center. Miravel has several meditation spaces and a yoga barn.
Fingal
Fingal is a brand new concept in hotels. Opening up this month in Edinburgh, Scotland, Fingal is a hotel on a ship. Resting in The Port of Leith in Edinburgh’s waterfront, Fingal is housed in a 1963 supply ship turned into a luxury 5 star hotel. The ship originally made supply runs to the area’s Stevenson Lighthouses. Now the ship holds several luxury guest rooms including a 2 story room with a staircase. Each room is named for a lighthouse and is adorned with the finest furnishings and amenities. There is a ballroom that seats 80, The Lighthouse Bar and an outdoor deck to enjoy the views while sipping cocktails. Staying at Fingal is certainly a unique experience.
Baker’s Cay Resort
Opening this month in Key Largo, Florida, Baker’s Cay Resort combines luxury and romance in a natural setting. Hilton’s Baker’s Cay Resort has comfortable guest rooms and suites appointed with the finest of amenities. The resort features a private beach, pool, boutique, and an Aveda salon. Set to open in February, Rosewood Miramar Beach is the latest hotel in beautiful Monticeto, California. Just 90 miles north of Los Angeles, Monticeto is gorgeous seaside community. The hotel sits on 16 acres of beautiful land and has 124 guest rooms and 37 suites. Each room is decorated in luxury and is light and airy. Guests can enjoy ice cream at the Scoop Shop, cocktails at The Manor Bar and a delicious meal at all-day dining venue located in the Manor House. Discovery Eco Village – Rottnest Island, Australia
Developed by Discovery Parks and Baileys Group, Discovery Eco Village will open this spring on Rottnest Island in Australia. The $20 million project is being built with preservation of the environment and sustainability in mind in the Pinky’s Beach location. The resort features 83 high quality eco friendly tents with en suite pods. Guests can enjoy the pool, bar and dining at Pinky’s Beach Club which is accessed through an elevated walkway through sand dunes. Karma Lounge is an on site spa. There is also a golf course. Discovery Eco Village has space for events and business meetings.
Melia Coco Beach
Melia Coco Beach will open this spring in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. The golf resort features 2 18 hole golf courses designed by PGA’s Tom Kite. Guests can enjoy the Yhi Spa and pool. There are several on site dining options. Nami Asian Bistro has Asian cuisine. Tempo Steak and Pasta has contemporary cuisine. Passion by Chef Myrta features Puerto Rican cuisine. Opening this spring, Rosewood is set to be one of Hong Kong’s grandest hotels. The Residence Maldives
The Residence Maldives will open to guests this spring on Falhumaafushi Island on the Gaafu Alifu Atoll in Maldives. The natural beauty of the Indian Ocean and one of the largest atolls in the world are stunning. The resort features 94 private villas made with natural materials and thatched roofs. Each villa is appointed with luxury fabrics and amenities, high ceilings and French windows. Each has its own private pool and deck.
