2022 Porsche Cayenne GTS

Porsche has been busy working on the new model of the Cayenne GTS for 2022. If you were pleased with the 2020 version then here is something to look forward to in the months to come. Porsche is set to release the new 2022 model year of the Cayenne GTS and there is a promise that there will be some exciting new changes. While it will retain the same popular DNA of the model, the GTS is set to deliver high on performance and the luxury that we’ve become accustomed to. Here are 10 things you didn’t know about the 2022 Porsche Cayenne GTS.

1. The prototype of a new variant is currently undergoing testing

It’s always a good sign when spycams capture the new model out for a test spin. The Cayenne Coupe variant is one of the models that was seen tooling around town. This is a new version of the coupe that is slated to be the biggest rival for the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and the BMW6 with regards to luxury. We’re happy to report that Porsche has their new prototype out on the roads testing every system and looking for areas that still need to be tweaked or modified. It’s a work in progress but they’re not saying a word about whether it’s finally completed for production.

2. The 2022 Porsche Cayenne GTS will be available in 2021

We still have about a year to go until we’ll see the new Cayenne roll off production lines, but it’s been confirmed that the 2022 model year is set for release sometime in 2021. With the current pandemic, most automakers have been put behind schedules, but we have yet to hear about an exact date for the new 2022 model of the GTS to become available for purchase.

3. Spycams confirmed a new exhaust

If Porsche sticks with the design that the new prototype is sporting, we’re going to see something new in the exhaust system. We’re reasonably sure that this is the case because of the dummy units that were installed near the middle of the rear fascia. The exhaust tips were hidden in an attempt to camouflage the design so as not to let the secret cat out of the bag. It’s predicted that we’re going to see the sports exhaust that Porsche used for the 911 models.

4. The predictions call for the same engine

It’s been assumed that the new 2022 Porsche Cayenne GTS is going to be equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged. this is the beast that cranks out 453 horsepower along with 457 lb-ft of torque. This will give it some impressive power if it holds true to form. We expect performance to be excellent with an acceleration that screams from zero to 62 mph in 4 seconds flat.

5. It’s going to be fast

Assuming that Porsche goes with the 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine, we can predict that the new 2022 Cayenne GTS is going to be one fast vehicle. If history is any indicator of what we can expect, the top speed should top 170 mph, and maybe go a little better. Porsche isn’t commenting on the performance specs just yet though. We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out if the educated guessers have this one right.

6. There are rumors of a new variant

We couldn’t keep the rumors to ourselves when we heard the buzz that there is talk of Porsche developing a hardcore version of the Cayenne Coupe for 2022. The new variant is likely to be dubbed the GT5. Although there has not been a direct confirmation of this rumor, it’s widely believed that the new variant will be fitted with a 670 horsepower powertrain that comes from the Turbo S E-Hybrid which is also slated to be released. There have not yet been any speculations made about the top speed for such a variant, nor about its potential for fast acceleration.

7. The Cayenne is likely to offer 6 trims

There is every reason to believe that the 2022 Porsche Cayenne will be offered in six different trim options. So far, the previous model year offered five. These were the base car, the S model, the Turbo S E-Hybrid, the E-Hybrid, and the Turbo. According to information that has been leaked, Porsche is going to be adding a sixth trim that will be even more powerful.

8. Spycams captured an unbadged Cayenne Coupe

Recent industry testing of the new 2022 Cayenne Coupe model was caught on spycam. The footage has convinced viewers of the fact that there is an unbadged variant that is currently being test-driven. It has a lot of the same features we’ve seen in the previous iterations of the Cayenne Coupe, but the setup for the exhaust is different. Dual exhaust exits were spied and although it might seem like a minor detail for enthusiasts it’s a big deal.

9. The 2022 Porsche Cayenne GTS remains a mystery

Spies are out in force and they are trying to learn as much about the new 2022 Cayenne GTS as they can. Porsche is doing their best to keep the new model shrouded in mystery, even going so far as to place a fake exhaust system on the vehicle to divert attention from what we believe will be a new dual exhaust system. Much of what we know is captured by spy cameras, but the majority of the information are assumptions based on the automaker’s habits and a lot of educated guessing. Details about the features of the new variant are being kept a big secret until the date of the final unveiling of the new model. Perhaps they’re still ironing out a few of the wrinkles, but we have confidence that Porsche will be making a press release in the next few months to come.
