Model, actress and television personality Denise Richards has amassed a fortune over her three decade career. She is best known for the films "Starship Troopers" and "Wild Things" as well as numerous guest appearances on television series. Most recently, Denise appears on Bravo's "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills". She has also written a memoir, starred in another realty television series, endorsed several beauty and fitness products and created a cosmetic and skin care line. Denise also supports several charitable organizations and of course is known for her marriage to actor Charlie Sheen.
Childhood to fashion model
Denise Richards was born in Downers Grove, Illinois on February 17, 1971. Her father Irv was a telephone engineer and her mother Joni owned a coffee shop. Denise has a younger sister Michelle. Not only did she grow into a beautiful young lady, as a young girl she excelled at baseball and even played on an all boy baseball team.
Denise's family moved to Oceanside, California when she was in high school. She graduated from El Camino High School in 1989 and went straight into modeling. Denise started her modeling career doing print and television ads for brands like J.C. Penney, Secret and Head & Shoulders. Her career took her to photo shoots and runway shows in New York City, Paris and Tokyo.
Television roles and Film
During the early 1990's, Denise Richards landed several guest roles on popular television shows. She appeared in "Life Goes On", "Saved By the Bell", "Doogie Howser, M.D.", "Beverly Hills 90210", "Seinfeld" and "In Living Color". In 1993, Denise got a part in the movie "Loaded Weapon 1". She got her first starring role in 1997's "Starship Trooper". She was nominated for a Blockbuster Movie Award for the role. The following year, as Denise's acting career continued to grow, she appeared in "Wild Things" In 1996, Denise appeared in three episodes of the popular night time soap opera "Melrose Place". That same year she starred as a sexy scientist in "James Bond: The World Is Not Enough". Denise was named the ninth of Maxim's "50 Sexiest Women". She also appeared in music videos for Blues Travelers and Snoop Dog".
Denise Richards continued her Hollywood success, appearing in films and television shows over the next twenty years. In 2001, Denise appeared in five episodes of Spin City. The hit sitcom starred Michael J. Fox. Fox left the show during the last two seasons due to Parkinson's disease. Charlie Sheen took over the lead for the last two seasons and he and Denise dated and ended up married. Denise was named #9 in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women. In the meantime, Denise continued to have guest roles on television shows including "Friends". She appeared in three episodes of Sheen's next big show "Three and a Half Men". The pair married in 2002 and went on to have two daughters Sam and Lola. Unfortunately, the couple separated while Denise was pregnant with Lola. The separation and further divorce in 2006 were volitial. Denise was granted a retraining order against Sheen. The pair would later become friends again and even co-parent their two daughters today. Denise also took in Sheen's children from his marriage to Brooke Mueller as Mueller and Sheen fought each other for custody of their twin boys because of their drug problems. In 2011, Denise adopted a daughter, Eloise.
Even as her marriage crumbled, Denise continued her success acting and modeling. She appeared in magazines including Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Redbook and GQ. She was featured in Playboy Magazine soon after the birth of Lola. In 2008, Denise appeared in an E! realty show, "Denise Richards: It's Complicated". In 2009, she was a contestant on "Dancing With the Stars". Unfortunately she was the second star eliminated that season. In 2011, Denise wrote a memoir "The Real Girl Next Store". she also continued to act and guest star in movies including "Drop Dead Gorgeous", "Valentine", "Scary Movie 3", and "Madea's Witness Protection Program. She also starred in the short lived television series "Blue Mountain State". In 2018, Denise married Canadian actor Aaron Phypers.
Products, Endorsements & Philanthropy
Aside from acting, Denise Richards has endorsed several health and beauty products, released some of her own lines and supported several charitable causes. She appeared in an infomercial for Flex Abs and ads for Gold Cosmetics and Bonnie Bell. Denise launched her own fragrance and skin care line. She has endorsed several products including Fab Fit Fun beauty subscription box, Teami Blends Teas and Simply to Impress cards. Denise Richards supports several charitable causes. These include the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation, The Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diseases, the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, and Best Friends Animal Society. In 2012, Denise whose mother died of cancer, launched a collaboration with Shoe Dazzle to raise money for the Kidney Cancer Association. Denise has designed several girls shoes for the company to raise money for the Kidney Cancer Association. The first design is called the Eloise in honor of her daughter.
