How Gary Owen Achieved a Net Worth of $3 Million

Gary Owen

Are you familiar with actor Gary Owen? A lot of people have been asking about his net worth lately, wondering how much he's worth. More specifically, people want to know how the actor known for films "Think Like a Man" and "Ride Along" has made his millions. There are a lot of factors that have gone into him developing a net worth of approximately $3 million. If you're interested in finding out how he has done it, all you have to do is keep reading.

Determination From An Early Age

Growing up, Gary Owen shared everything with his numerous siblings, six of them to be exact. As one of seven children growing up in a trailer park, Gary didn't exactly have a lot in the way of money or material possessions throughout his early life. There were times when the family struggled to put food on the table. That meant that there was virtually no money left for anything extra. When other children his age were getting new clothes or going on family vacations, Gary could only sit back and watch. Even at a young age, he realized that he essentially had two choices. He could allow his circumstances to make him bitter or he could find a way to pull himself out of those circumstances in order to develop a better life for himself. Fortunately, he chose the latter. As he did so, he also found a way to use humor to make his current circumstances feel a little less frustrating. That is something that he carried with him into adulthood, eventually using his childhood frustrations as the basis for his comedy routine. His success as a comedian eventually put him on the radar and got him noticed by film producers and agents alike, paving the way for an acting career.

Fame And Stardom

The truth is, Gary Owen has been in the business for quite some time now. His big break came all the way back in 1997, when he was featured on BET's "Comic View". This got him a lot of attention because people thought that he was genuinely funny. The experience there took his comedic career to the next level. Eventually, it also landed him a career in acting, although that isn't something that happened overnight. As luck would have it, his first role in front of a camera wouldn't be until two years later when he landed a small acting role in 1999. It would be another 10 years, in 2009, when he starred in the television show "House of Payne." That experience fueled his career in acting like nothing else.

From that point forward, he was offered television and film roles at a pace that would overwhelm most individuals. As such, he has starred in projects such as "Daddy Day Care" and "Love Chronicles," among others. Of course, these are in addition to the aforementioned projects such as "Ride Along" and "Think Like a Man." It's also worth noting that "Think Like a Man" got a sequel, which Owen also starred in. To date, he has been involved in numerous projects, all of them adding up to his eventual net worth that is currently reported to be approximately $3 million. Depending on who you talk to, that number is probably a bit conservative, as some outlets have reported that his net worth could even be closer to $4 million.

Money, Money, Money

Most people have a tendency to overlook the potential salary of a genuinely funny comedian, but it has been reported that within a single year of appearing on "Comic View," he was commanding a whopping $5,000 for each comedic performance that he gave. That's saying quite a lot, especially when you consider the fact that he was largely booked up on an annual basis. It isn't like he was out there begging for people to let him put on a show. It might be different if he were only able to book a few shows a year, but in reality, he was booking enough shows that he actually had to turn some of them down. Imagine doing three or four shows a week and making $5,000 for each one. It isn't the type of money that most actors see for their hard work, but it isn't anything to sneeze at, either. In fact, it's a lot more money than most people could even imagine making in a month's time, and Owen was making it in just a few nights. During the eight years between his appearance on "Comic View" and his breakout role in front of the camera, he remained increasingly active as a comedian. As a result, he had a good start on his $3 million net worth long before he ever became an actor.

Making Millions

So far, you know that he started commanding a rather hefty price tag for his comedic performances early on and that since that time, he has a number of acting credits to his name. However, you still don't know exactly how he has made approximately $3 million. In reality, he has made that money because he's constantly working in one capacity or another, scarcely taking any significant amount of time off and working with some of the greatest actors and actresses of all time. As previously mentioned, he has a number of acting credits that he can put on his CV, but it isn't just acting that he spends his time doing. He still actively travels around the country doing comedic performances. By the way, he commands more than $5,000 per performance now and in some cases, that price is considerably higher. In addition to these two main activities, he's also a producer. Granted, being a producer can sometimes mean that you spend more money than you make, but if you know how to choose the right projects, it is possible to make a significant amount of money as a producer. Fortunately for Owen, he has chosen wisely throughout his career. There you have it. After decades in the business as both a comedian and an actor, along with his more recent ventures as a producer, Gary Owen has now accumulated a net worth of approximately $3 million. He doesn't seem to have any intention of slowing down, so it's possible that he could also add to that net worth in the future.
