The Swiss company Jaeger-LeCoultre  has been at the forefront in revolutionizing the watchmaking industry by designing timeless innovations for nearly 200 years.  The company was started as a small workshop by Antoine LeCoultre in 1833.  Antoine was a brilliant inventor of timepieces who has a number of achievements and awards to his name.  One such example is a gold medal from the 1851 London Universal Exhibition. He is accredited with pushing the boundaries in watchmaking, hence improving the levels of accuracy when determining time.

The 19th century also saw his son, Elie LeCoultre come up with the watchmaking firm in 1870, called LeCoultre & Cie. This firm is accredited with manufacturing over 350 different calibres; 128 chronological functions and over 100 with repeater functions. 1903 saw the birth of the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand, thanks to the friendship of the founder’s grandson, Jacques David LeCoultre and a Parisian, Edmond Jaeger. The company successfully launched the Dupplan watch, Atmos clock (1925), and the iconic Reverso watch (1931).
