His childhood
Josh Peck was born in New York City on November 10, 1986. He never knew his biological father but was raised by his mom Barbara, a career coach, and her mother. Because he had asthma, Josh stayed indoors a lot and watched a lot of sitcoms. He dreamed of becoming a stand up comedian and, with the encouragement of his mom, performed at TADA! Youth Theater and at Caroline’s on Broadway. When he was just 10 years old, Josh appeared on The Rosie O’Donnell Show. Josh got noticed and was cast in Nickelodeon’s The Amanda Show. At just 13 years old, he moved to Los Angeles.
His big break
While in LA, Josh was in a few movies. He was in 2000’s Snow Day, 2001’s Max Keeble’s Big Move, an independent film called Spur and Mean Creak. He also appeared on television shows including ER< MadTV and Family Guy. Josh’s big break came in 2004 with the role of Josh Nichols on Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh. He costarred with Drake Bell as stepbrothers in high school often tormented by Drake’s little sister Megan (played by Miranda Cosgrove). The series lasted until 2007 and had several specials. Josh won the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Television Actor and the Independent Spirit Award.
