Kirstie Alley was born in Wichita, Kansas, on January 12, 1951. She graduated from Wichita Southeast High school in 1969, then attended Kansas State University. However, she dropped out of university after sophomore year and moved to Los Angeles to work as an interior designer and to pursue Scientology. Alley first appeared on television in 1979, although it was not as an actress. She was a contestant on two episodes of the game show Match Game. As a professional actress, Alley’s first role was in the 1982 film ‘Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.’ Over the next few years, Wikipedia says that Alley had several minor roles in small films. A year later, she got her big break when she landed the role of Rebecca Howe in the NBC sitcom ‘Cheers.’ She played this role until the series met its conclusion in 1993. For her performance in this sitcom, Alley won an Emmy Award in 1991.

Other than for her role in ‘Cheers’, Kirstie Alley is probably best known for starring alongside John Travolta in the 1989 film ‘Look Who’s Talking.’ The film was a critical and commercial success, and it grossed $295 million at the worldwide box office. She resumed her role for the sequels ‘Look Who’s Talking too’ and ‘Look Who’s Talking Now.’ Between 1997 and 2000, Kirstie Alley played the title role in ‘Veronica’s Closet,’ an NBC sitcom. She was also an executive producer of the series. Along with her acting work, Kirstie Alley has also taken part in competitions and reality television. She has been a contestant on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ twice. She first appeared in the dancing competition in 2011, and she was partnered with professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Alley and Chmerkovskiy finished in second place in the competition, which was won by NFL Super Bowl champion Hines Ward. Alley returned for the 15th season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and was once again partnered with Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Her Personal Life

Kirstie Alley was married to her high-school sweetheart, Bob Alley, from 1970 to 1977. She then married actor Parker Stevenson in 1983. After the couple suffered a miscarriage, they adopted a son, William, and a daughter, Lillie. Alley and Parker divorced in 19997. Kirstie Alley is now a grandmother as her son William has a son.
